Adelaide is a place to enjoy your meal and on top of that benefit from fresh ingredients cooked to venitian tradition.

It is not a tourist trap in that you will not be pampered in relation to your wallet. It is a place where locals go, so expect the service locals seek. Eating and enjoying life.

Some dishes are for minimum 2 people (especially entrees) which may seem a constraint. But you can be assured that "mamma" in a venetian house will not serve 2 different entrees at home. So don't expect it here.

The charm here is that you are free to question the cook, discuss your culinary preferences and then enjoy the meal. If you don't agree on recipies, hold your ground and try Adelaide's variation.

Oh, and if you plan to stay seated all dinner, you missed something. Take a break, grab your wine glass and chat just outside the door.

If you go to Adelaide you will probably not boast about being pampered, but you will remember that you had a true venetian dinner experience.

I was soo delighted by this typical Osteria. The crew is very friendly and they serve authentic Venician cousine. If you want to avoid crowded touristic places, and want instead something original with great flavor, then this is the place you are looking for.

DO NOT EAT HERE.

I had trouble ordering a pasta for lunch as the menu said it had to be a minimum order for two. As a "favour" they made me one. It was just ok and very small.

However at the next table two locals sat down and ordered their meals. The owner came out and met them and then presented them a pasta meal at least THREE TIMES the size of my small serve.

As we left we advised the waitress that such behaviour was disgusting. She shrugged her shoulders and said it was the owners decision....

Clearly he feels he can rip off tourists in one of the most touristy places on the planet and THRIVE...

Please do not support such a restaurant when there there are so many, many places treat that treat you with respect!

We got lost following our map and discovered this restaurant down one of the narrow lanes. It didn't look touristy, it had real atmosphere and the menu and food were so different and well priced. We were given free drinks. It was a breath of fresh air. It was nice to get away from the crowds and the heat. Well worth a visit. Couldn't recommend it more.

We accidentally discovered this great restaurant in Venice. It does not publish the menu in 5 languages and the wait staff does not have an attitude! The menu is changed daily depending on what's in season and what the catch-of-the-day is and what chef Alvise decides is best and "Venetian". It is by far the best restaurant that we've eaten in in Venice - a real foodies restaurant with the touches that you'd expect from your best gourmet/gastro eatery. The wines are mostly local with a great selection that pairs well with their menu. The pastas are either house made or hand made and excellent - our son ordered the handmade ravioli twice - although most you have to order for a minimum of two people. The salads were plentiful and fresh and the seafood salad, or mixed plate was excellent as well. They use the vegetables that are in season with creativity and gusto! The wait staff is helpful and friendly- not on top of you, but available when you need them. The Panna Cotta is particularly creamy - a wonderful finish to a great meal!
