“Great Apartment but Requires modern bath and kitchen”
Reviewed June 25, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We rented this place for 4 nights for a relaxed Venice experience. The apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures, spacious rooms and living area. Location is fantastic, 8-10 mins walk to San Marco and is centrally located.
The apartment is on 4th floor and has no lift, so be prepared for long flight of steps which are a bit steep. We were out of breath.
The bathrooms are a bit dated and in need of modernisation. The kitchen requires modernisation too.
The price to rent the place isn't cheap but you don't get housekeeping done daily which was a bit disappointing. I was expecting fresh towels and beds done daily espicially when I was spending 4 nights.

The kitchen did not have any diswasher tablets or refuse bags and its difficult to get very small packs of these. It would be good if these too could be provided. We bought it from the downstairs supermarket(another great advantage) and had to leave the leftover behind. If things like tea bags, coffee, milk, basic cooking oil can also be stocked in kitchen, at extra cost if needed, then that would be extremely helpful. Going down and back up 4 floors everytime you realize a basic stuff is missing in kitchen isn't easy. Cutlery in kitchen needs replacement.

The great advantage was the Punto Simply supermarket next door.

The beds are very comfortable and so is sofa in the living area. WiFi was a bit patchy, may be the placement of router in living area might fix that.

We requested late checkout or atleast have our luggage stored till 2pm and the property manager agreed to have our luggage left behind for late pickup which was very helpful. Better to have this prearranged to avoid last moment disappointment.

Overall great place to stay.

“Lovely apartment, fab location but with a serious hiccups”

The apartment is as illustrated in the photos. Well decorated, good layout and clean. Very comfortable and with good attention to detail and comfort. The apartment is bright with excellent views over the rooftops. Plenty of space for the four of us. However, be prepared to climb four steep flights of stairs. Also, the electricity tripped 3x one morning, and we had the pleasure of running up and down all 4 flights of stairs to sort it out. We were advised this may happen on the rare occasion when we arrived but not when we booked. Unfortunately we stumbled on a rare occasion. I mentioned this to the owners and they said it is due to too many electrical items on at once. It was 7 am in the morning, everyone was asleep. We had a few lights on and a kettle going + the oven to warm up some pastries. Contacted the owners as we were convinced it was the oven so we stopped using it.

Upon booking, I requested a later check-out on our final day. Whilst we were there, this request was turned down as they had new clients arriving, although we simply were asking for a place to store our bags for a few hours until 2pm. Never in my years of travel to ancient cities with the same setup has this ever happened to us. They suggested leaving our bags at Proma Porto luggage depot in Piazalle Rome which is miles away in the opposite direction, wheeling luggage up and over hundreds of steps with 2 children in tow! My husband struck a deal with one of our favourite restaurants. They housed our luggage and we had a delicious family meal. Shame Ca Fortuny didn't have the foresight to set up something similar to this for their clients.

“Lovely Apartment in Venice -- Great location”

My husband and 26 year old son and I stayed in this lovely apartment in Venice and we enjoyed our stay. It is a beautifully maintained and decorated apartment in a very convenient part of the city (and very close to a grocery store). I wish we had been able to stay longer!

Yes there are steps up to the apartment....we are used to that and we just enjoy knowing we are burning off that afternoon gelato! It is worth the climb up the stairs for those who are reasonably fit and don't travel with large heavy suitcases.

We enjoyed the location...it seemed close to everything and we loved how quiet it was.

One note...it wasn't clear that there are screens that can be pulled down to keep bugs out so that you can keep the windows open....we love to sleep with fresh air and so many places don't have screens. Thankfully my son figured that out on our first day!

Nice apartment, good location. And very quiet in the night. We all liked it. But be prepared to climb the stairs.
The bathrooms are a bit old, but fine that there where two such rooms.
The person who met us was punctual, both at arrival and departure.
All together, a positive experience.

“Top apartment in excellent location”

We were offered Ca Fortuny as a replacement for an other apartment which was damaged by water. Although I had some doubts in the beginning we all were very pleased when we arrived at Ca Fortuny. As we took a private water taxi we are picked up just around the corner at Canale Grande by a nice and friendly lady and walked 2 minutes to the respective house. To reach the apartment at the top floor you need to climb a lot of stairs - but it is definitely worthwhile. The aparment is very well and nicely furnished, very clean and very charming. The location is also great - between Rialto (5 to 10 minutes) and Piazza San Marco (10 minutes). There is good supermarket just around the corner where everything for the daily life can be found. We spent four days there and enjoyed them very much.

“Fabulous Apartment in Great Location”
Reviewed May 2, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

This apartment is beautiful and features everything you need for a pleasant vacation. Close to Rialto Bridge and Accademia Bridge, so very central. In fact, nothing is a very far walk but if you don't like to walk, the Sant' Angelo water taxi is just around the corner. Everything in the apartment is top rate. Also, there is a very good supermarket just around the corner, too, which is great for cooking some of your own meals in the kitchenette. Two things you do need to know: 1) the apartment is up 4 flights of steps but we just considered this needed exercise and 2) you have to be careful when using big appliances together (like the washer and dishwasher). Ask the rental agent to show you where the breakers are just in case. Otherwise, splendid and I can't imagine a better spot to stay in Venice!
