The Palazzo is a small hotel located next door to the Scuola Dalmata (worth a look), We arrived by water taxi from the railway station via the Canal Grande and a network of lesser canals through Castello. - very strongly recommended for the first impressions of the city it creates (web bookable with Motoscafi), This delivered us to the Rio della Pieta twenty metres from the front door, with no bridges to negotiate. The hotel has a lift, although luggage still has to negotiate a few steps.

The room was adequate and for Venice, not unreasonably priced. Breakfast somewhat limited in choice. Staff courteous and helpful. Premises clean. Good range of restaurants close by.

Convenient to St Mark's (less than a ten-minute stroll), and only a few minutes from vaporetto stops on the Canale de San Marco. From there, with a seven-day ticket, we explored the city and the islands.

We were happy with our choice, particularly from a location perspective and would recommend.

I know Venice is expensive, but for 200 Euros I would expect a better breakfast and nice receptionist when I left the hotel. Nothing special in the room except the view.

Also the 11:00 check out time is a bit too early.

My wife and I had the attic room with views of the city's rooftops in every direction.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, the room was clean.
Close to some very nice cafes and restaurants and only a ten minute walk to the various S Marco bus/taxi stops. A good central location.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in August. It is a total Venetian experience. 15th centruy building with antique furnishings, painted ceilings....very authentic. Staying here made our time in Venice an amazing experience. The staff are wonerful and very helpful. They gave us directions, made dinner reservations for us and gave us lots of information. The breakfast consisted of pastries, fruit, cheese, meats, cereals, yogurt and coffee or tea and juice. The hotel is on a smaller and quieter canal and the location is great. Not right in the midst of all the hustle and bustle so it is peaceful, but has so much around it so you don't miss anything. It was a bit hard to find (I think we walked by a couple of times before we noticed it as the signage is on the second floor) but worth the challenge. I would certainly stay here again.

This small hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from Saint Mark's Square and short (about 10 min) walk from Rialto and Arsenale where all shopping and restaurants are located.
We arrived late after 2am but received very warm reception which was a surprise. Overall the staff was very friendly but still respected our privacy.
The room was clean, had free wifi, air-conditioning and was furnished in venetian style. We also had quite large balcony which we both loved.
The only disappointment was breakfast which was the same every day (we stayed for 7 nights), but still it was quite filling and tasty.
We would definitely recommend this hotel!

We loved our apartment at Schiavoni after a month on a bus tour of the UK. The space to ourself was awesome as was the advice that the supermarket was just over the canal outside the door. Loved finding the local fruit and produce. The pizza from the nearby shop was wonderful. The cold peach tea was very thirst quenching. We appreciated the juice etc on hand on our arrival. What a lovely idea to have bread delivered each morning and hanging on the door handle. We selected this apartment after reading trip advisor reviews. Street names not always easy to see in Venice but we soon found our landmarks. What a lovely stay we had.

Room Tip: wour away from the canal room was excellent, no noise in the area at all

Yet another wonderful stay in Venice and this time hotel; Palazzo Schiavoni was a good choice.
We booked a room with canal view and it was really worth it, not to mention the lovely balcony. Hotel is small and charming with a good quiet location, still only ten minutes walk to St. Marcos square.
We may recommend the hotel to anyone, but especially for those who are looking for a romantic accommodation in Venice, but do not intend to use a fortune on that.

Some words about the restaurants in Venice.
You can easily spend a fortune on a poor meal, so it is better to do some research (trip advisor) in advance to avoid possible disappointments. Remember also, that if you dine next to e.g. Rialto Bridge, you will pay for the view and not necessarily for the food quality. Same thing goes at St. Marcos in the evenings. Live music with couple of drinks does “hurt” but what the heck, it is just life.

Some tips concerning normal restaurants and normal orders: A beer with a view (sometimes even without) 6-10 euros. Pizzas 8-14 euros, main courses 15-30 euros. Good wine in bottles apx. 20-30. Gin Tonic at St. Marcos in the evening with music 25 euros the first ones then 19 euros each.

Some restaurants we think are worth of a visit are:
- “I Figli Delle Stelle” at Giudecca island : food and prices OK, but the main point is the dining experience outside near the Giudecca canal. When the sun goes down, you really can feel the “WOW- effect” in the most romantic atmosphere.
- “Algiubagio” at Fondamenta Nuove. Fine dining with reasonable prices and fine service. Dining outside or inside, both goes.
- “San Stefano Ristorante” at Campo San Stefano square. Fine service and pizzas that fulfill pizzalovers all needs.
- “Antica Birraria La Corte” at Campo. S. Polo square. Not a bad word to say. We recommend e.g. “pasta con vongole”.

And some exceptional places to visit for a drink or two:
- Hotel Daniel terazza on the top floor. Views to Giudecca Canal are worth of every euro that you will” willingly” spend there. Excellent service, but then again it is five star plus level. The lobby bar at the ground floor is also most elegant, and worth of a visit e.g. at midnight.

- All St. Marcos bars with evening music. The service is always excellent and independently at whichever bar you might stay. This year we recommend you visit “Gran Caffe Chioggia”, because the music was the most romantic you can hear at St. Marcos this summer and great musicians too.

We say goodbye for Venice for now and probably for years, but we will return some day.

Room Tip: Room named Canale. A small romantic room with a balcony towards the canal. Great airconditioning.
