“What a let-down!”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

I booked a twin en suite to share with my adult daughter and a separate single room with shared facilities for my son.
The pictures looked great, but what a let-down!
4th floor, no lift, in separate building using key, so door was often left open with poor security. Dirty and ugly staircase with musty smell.
My son's room was fine, with benefit of small en suite.. but the twin room was very shabby, all old decoration, tatty wardrobe with an old towel left on upper shelf, a bathroom with disgusting shower, with exposed pipes and wiring and which smelt damp.... hot water depended on time of day.... bed covers really old, you knew they hadn't been cleaned in ages....
so the bed was ok with clean sheets...at least could sleep.
The main reception and breakfast area are modern and most of staff very helpful, charging phones etc for us...
Very poor standard for 3 year old building.. perhaps if we'd been in main buildling, with modern rooms, or at least refurbished like my son's room, then I'd have been happy, but the value for money was not good.
Concerned about location down long, narrow quiet street - would not have wanted to be on my own late at night.
Close location to station, water taxi from airport (30 euros return), other water taxis et
Venice is quiet after 11pm and difficult to find anywhere open to have a drink and relax after evening out. We visited first weekend of Venice film festival, very hot.
If I went back to Venice, would get at least a 4 start hotel and do my research better....

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a modern room in the main building. They get booked up weekends.

Good hotel. No elevator. They upgrade us to a bigger room on the second floor. Originally we were suppose to be on the 5th floor in a smaller room. Venice is a very expensive city. Breakfast OK. Staff very friendly. Close to train station.

It was very difficult to find since it doesn't have a sign, well in January 2013 it didn't, I don't know about now. We were received coldly by the staff, it was a woman and a guy, they just kept talking and ignoring us. We were annoyed by them but we already paid for the room so we had to bear with it. There is no lift so we had to carry our stuff for 4 floors. Nonetheless the room was clean, had good beds although the room was a little bit small.

The "streets" in Venice are already difficult enough to locate being generally very narrow, more like a very small back lane than a "street". One can easily miss the "street" that this hotel is located. But the bigger issue is that there is NO HOTEL SIGNBOARD outside to indicate the hotel! It took a kindly local woman to personally lead us to the hotel entrance/reception. The receptionist was hardly friendly and not warm at all, even when we tried humour at our difficulty to locate the hotel. The reception area is a contradiction to the rest of the hotel...it was bright and nice but to access our rooms, we had to go out about 30 feet away and through another ancient door and up a dinghy staircase. The rooms themselves were acceptably clean and comfortable, but beware that when you book a room with private bathroom, specify you want internal or you may be given external private bathroom. All these could be excused as after all it is a budget hotel that we booked, if not for the cold, aloof and unfriendly reception. Maybe it is case of communication problem? But we are disappointed.

Room Tip: We had to exit the reception to go to another entrance further down the street to access our room. H...

The first stop for my husband and I in Italy was Venice and we arrived after a long day of travel to the Alloggi Agli Artisti hotel. Once we found it on a typically small pathway, we checked in (the staff was lovely) and we wound our way up to the room. It was clean and perfect. We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was good and the staff were lovely. They always were friendly and helpful, giving us directions to specific locations (getting lost in Venice is so easy and part of the fun, but when we had a time limit, we wanted to reach our destination). They stored our luggage safely for us the last day after we checked out. We really enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the extra exercise at the end of the night walking a few flights up to our room after pasta and wine. I'm a clean freak, and the bathrooms were immaculate. We definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for simple accommodations and a great location for getting in and out of Venice (it's right near the train station).

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a private bathroom on the 4th floor. Very comfortable. No elevator, so not...

Well after reading trip adviser reviews I wasn't expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised.
It is basic but it was very clean and tidy, the beds were made everyday. My only criticism is that the breakfast was limited if you don't eat bread, could have done with a bowl of fruit. There is no lift, so we had to carry our luggage to the top floor, so if you can't manage stairs bear that in mind and get a ground floor room.
I think if you want fancy service and a fancy hotel then spend more money and book a more expensive hotel. If you want a base camp near to the train station and the vaperetto then this is a good hotel.

The hotel is up a narrow calle (alleyway) and isn't much fun to look at from the outside. There are five or six floors but no elevator... we were on the fourth floor (the front door is at floor zero), so it was quite a trudge to our room.

On arrival our room seemed to have no electricity, but don't be fooled, (the trick was to find the on-off power switch next to the room light switch). Our room had no toilet or shower which we knew beforehand, but there was a mirror and sink. There are three common toilets and showers at the end of the hall. We were in room 406... the three facilities were right across the hall! Better than at home!

The room was a good size with a small walk-out balcony; not modern, but very clean. The windows open so you can hear the church bells in the morning (and any other time of day). Rooms are serviced daily.

A free continental breakfast is provided with croissants, toast, cereal, yogourt, coffee, and juices.

Rooms have free wi-fi. There is also a computer in the office lobby that guests can use.

Room Tip: No elevator. Room 406 is conveniently at end of hall next to three toilets and showers
