“It's venice so you won't spend much time in the hotel”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

We where in Venice late may 2012 with a group of six. We had three double rooms on the fourth floor facing the alley the hotel is on.
Arriving at the hotel is easy. It is a two minute walk from the train station and a five minute walk from the main taxi stand. The main canal in Venice, Canal Grande, is less then a minute away but you won't see it from your hotel room. Also a 'bus' station on the canal is very near so public transport is easy to get on. Despite that it's so close the alley its on is quiet and you won't feel much of the huge groups of tourists that walk the streets around the grand canal daily.
The reception is basic, the staff is helpful and speaks english well. The rooms are somewhat out-dated but ours where ok but could definitely be better. One had no working airconditioning and the one I was in had a clean but microscopic bathroom. And please do realize there is NO elevator!

This hotel is just a place where you can go to sleep when your stuffed with delicious food and wine from one of the gazzilion good restaurants that Venice has to offer (although we didn't find a good restaurant near the hotel). The next day you get up and after a very basic breakfast (as is usual in Italy) join the hordes of tourists who flock the canals, rialto bridge and san marco square. So it does a fine job serving you a bed and a roof but it is nothing fancier than that. Then again, you won't need much more out of your hotel when your in Venice.

Hello Sir,

thankf for your feedback. We now rooms on top floor can be refurbished, and obviously we really hope to be able to do it soon. Lift is a major problem, which is going to be solved during this autumn, when we are supposed to install a useful lift.

Regards, hope you come back to see our improvements

My girlfriend & I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Alloggi Agli Artisti hotel and must admit we were pleasantly surprised with what we got for our money. The location is perfect, literally round the corner from the train station, and even closer to the nearest water bus station (a method of travel which is an absolute must if staying in Venice in order to see all the sights). By water bus it is around 5 minutes from Rialto, 10 from St Marks square. The cleanliness of the hotel was pretty good in fairness, the maids came every day and changed any towels we required changing, although we found some dirty marks on the inside of the bathroom door and some dirt behind the wardrobe, but we figured you can't ask for everything. We booked a double room which was perfect size for the 2 of us, with a bathroom that was impressive for a budget hotel. The service was excellent, staff always friendly and happy to help, especially the staff who prepared and maintained breakfast each morning, who always made the effort to say bye to us when we left each morning, and seemed to do the same to each of the other guests. The breakfasts consisted of croissants, bread rolls, pastries, cereal & yogurts with butters, jams, nutella & teas, fresh pineapple or red orange juice and were always readily available regardless of what time you came down within the 7:30-10:30 time frame. The only 2 negatives we could find with the place were: the fact that we were on the 4th (top) floor & there was no lift, which was not very good after a day of spending hours and hours walking round Venice, and the eye sore of a laundry crane (which can be seen in the photo section) used to carry laundry from the bottom floor to the fourth. Overall we would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Venice, especially couples looking for a budget trip, but perhaps not to families

Thanks a lot for your review. We are planning to improve our service and to install lift by the end of November 2012, as we always welcome many "cruisers", who have enormous bags (too hard to carry upstairs).

Regards

Giacomo

Hotel took our money in full before arrival. When we arrived the fourth floor was being gutted. We were told the day we checked in that was the last day. Three days later when we checked out they were still going. Drills, hammers, sanding and all that good stuff.

Small man on reception denied there was any noise, after much protests he moved us to another room but the noise was the same we just had a bigger room.

Great location, but how this is a three star place is beyond me. Flooding bathroom, holes in the towels and linens, no remote for the 13" TV that was so high my wife couldn't reach the controls. (She's 5'4").

Dear Sir,

unfortunately what ou say it's correct, in part. Actually we had to start refurbishmnents works suddently, as we had a lack in a pipe which was mandatory to solve, and therefore we took the chance of redo the fourth floor, left side (now works hae ended). We took money in advance simply because you reserved a "non refundable room", which requires immediate payment. Even if you say room was very noisy, after we moved you got a very good room for what you paid, no so noisy (I reimnd you paid 40.00 euro per night for a double room with breakfast). Concerning last two points, I wish to remind you that our tvs have remote, just you need to ask for that at the desk giving a deposit in exchange, and linens and towels are supplied from the laundry Company: when we find them broken we change them immediately and send them back to them, so it appears strange you suffered of this matter, since our cleaning Staff have the order not to prepare rooms with broken pieces,

Best regards

Giacomo

The single rooms are incredibly small. They can barely fit the bed. These rooms smell like the hallway which is disgusting, so they cover it with a lemon scented air freshener that does not quite cut it. There are only two bathrooms for half a floor and as you can imagine they are difficult to keep clean throughout the day. I would definitely not recommend the overpriced singles. I can't believe how much I paid for so little. It is easy to find and the staff is very nice.
