Foscari Palace is perfectly located on The Grand Canal, just a short walk from the Ca' D'Oro stop on the water taxi. A great boutique hotel. Our room was very comfortable, shower (no tub), very clean, with all amenities we needed. The staff was kind and helpful, referring us to a very nice restaurant. A breakfast buffet was plenty to get us off to a good start. There's a beautiful rooftop deck overlooking the Grand Canal. Gondola rides available right outside the front door. We'd definitely stay here again.

First visited September '09. It rained heavily so we returned this year to do it properly! Still smart and new-feeling following total refurbishment a few years ago its a refreshing change from some of the faded antique hotels. We were welcomed again by Divna the receptionist who had reserved our requested rooms. Location: perfect because - close by Rio di Noale, the main access canal from the lagoon and private water taxi to/from airport - far enough from busy St Marks yet 5 mins to Rialto - traghetto right outside to paddle you (50 cents) across to Rialto Market/San Polo/Santa Croce area from where you can keep weaving your way down to the delightful waterfont of Dorsoduro. And of course the C'a d'Oro vaporetto stop is only metres away.
Few decent restaurants close to hotel. Most in Venice are cramped and expensive and have an annoying tendency to serve dishes on cold plates, a real pain if you are eating outside. The only one we'd pre-researched that was any good was the Osteria Giorgione, a short walk from the hotel. Another is Al Vecio Bragasso just down the street (Giuliano & Carlo).
This year the weather was great. Italians are not known for breakfasts in city hotels but Foscari's is extensive, wholesome and not to be rushed. It would have been nice to have had just one smile from our waitress though.Tea and biscuits available later after a tough day pounding the streets. We particularly enjoyed watching all the canal activity from the roof terrace, a special place on warm days. The S. Sofia square outside can be noisy. Just close the outside shutters and windows and its silent. We love the Foscari Palace and don't really want to stay anywhere else. However, it has a new young owner who bought it from the Giannetti Group this summer. He has made personnel changes. All that remains is perhaps some staff classes at the school of charm and a handy list of nearby restaurants (the Sagredo Hotel opposite seem capable of this) and Foscari will be even more perfect. We're looking forward to going again. It meets our every need.

An excellent hotel close to all the attractions.
Friendly staff and a good hearty breakfast each morning.
The Sun Terrace on the rooftop was amazing with panoramic views across Venice.
Very clean and hard to fault in any way

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Foscari Palace. Our arrival coincided with the Regatta Sortica and we were advised by the concierge to make our way to the roof as soon as possible to watch it. This we did and had a fabulous afternoon being served with drinks and free canapés by the concierge. The rest of our stay mirrored this level of service.
The hotel has been recently sympathetically refurbished to a high standard and is in a central location overlooking the Grand Canal.
Our bedroom overlooked an alley and was a good size with a reasonable sized and well equipped bathroom. Unfortunately they had tried too hard with the bath which had gadgets galore. This just meant that as none worked particularly well nothing was very satisfactory. (Simple is best!!). On the ground and first floor were communal lounges that fronted the Grand canal.
Breakfast was served in a small breakfast room and was continental with boiled eggs. Fine!!
We Booked through a broker and were very happy with the price we had paid. 140 Euros per night for a double room for two with breakfast.

This is a nice older hotel in the middle of Venice. The rooms are decent sized and the bathroom is pretty large compared to a lot of other places I've heard about being on the small size.

It wasn't cheap, but it was under 200 euros a night which for a 4 star hotel seems fair in Venice.

We enjoyed our stay here for 3 days at the end of August, except for two things. The day before we left the maids had cleaned our room and for some reason decided to remove or throw away one of our large tupperware containers we have been using for our world trip. No idea why, but when we got back to our room it was missing, and the lid was still there and the front desk had no idea what to say. I think they threw it out while they were cleaning, and this was really frustrating since we could not buy the same one since we were in Italy and the replacement we got does not fit in our luggage. As we're traveling around the world we've been using it for taking food with us on planes and to use in the hotel room. The front desk did not really seem to care about this and we could not find the maids to ask them since we were leaving early the next morning.

The other is not their fault, but it seems the piazza they are in is VERY noisy after 11pm, every night there would be loud music playing, people screaming and the sounds of drunk people. It was quiet up until then and we'd go to bed only to be woken up by really loud noises which would go on past midnight. I highly suggest you bring ear plugs if you come here because it seems everyone likes to party late in Venice and sleep in.

Good hotel, good location, rooms a bit small but generally speaking a very good hotel by Italian and International standards, breakfast was a bit bland but location made up for it.
Price was a bit high but costs as 3x more as other hotels.

friendly staff and good service! room 208 was big and with bath and shower and had a view over street and canal, staff helped with everything! we recommend this hotel for couples because of location and no noice from street or disco. Also easy to cross grand canal to visit fruit / fish marked. Recommend also boat 52 to go to Lido for bathing. Price was 100euro per night and 110 in weekend
