“Friendly and accommodating”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

We arrived at this hotel after an early flight into Treviso so were able to leave our luggage whilst we went exploring as it was too early for our room to be ready. We were told what time we could come back and advised of the breakfast room times etc. We then spent a lovely day exploring the city before returning to the hotel to check into our room and enjoy a cold beer overlooking the canal - Perfect! Our rooms was typical Venetian style and very beautiful, fresh smelling and featuring a wonderfully comfortable bed and lovely clean bathroom. We didn't pay extra for a view of the canal but would have done so if we were staying longer than just 1 night. After a great nights sleep, we awoke not wanting to have to leave so soon, but we were on business and had to meet with customers at the cruise port early in the morning. We had time to grab a quick and lovely breakfast and coffee and wanted to stay for seconds, it was delicious...plus it was my girlfriends birthday that day and they brought out a lovely chocolate cake that they had taken the time to bake especially! It was great and added extra points for service and we had already been impressed by the staffs friendly and helpful nature at every step. They also advised us the fastest route (and cheapest option) to get to the cruise terminal which was a short stroll to Piazzale Roma followed by a quick trip on the people mover (only €1.30 each, bargain!) to the cruise port. This hotel is wonderful and we would love to stay here again (for longer next time) if we visit Venice again; excellent staff and service, lovely room, brilliant breakfast and a perfect location for winding in and out of the maze of streets as you explore from The Rialto to St Marks Sq and more....plus close to Piazzale Roma, opposite to Santa Lucia train station. close to the cruise port and to a vaporetto stop, so really easy to get about whether walking or taking public transport - Fab! We recommend for business and/or pleasure!

This hotel is a gem in Venice. The room was perfect with a mix of traditional Italian decor and a modern bathroom.. The staff was wonderful, attentive and friendly. The location was convenient to everything. I wish we could have stayed longer

We stayed here for 3 nights in May. Arrived by train and left by bus and the location of the hotel couldn't have been more convenient. The staff were so helpful and made great dinner recommendations. Breakfast was well done and they made us special coffee every morning. The room was small but clean and updated. We didn't spring for the canal view but enjoyed the afternoons drinking a glass of wine on the hotel terrace right in front of the Grand a Canal. The walk to Piazza San Marco took about 30 mins but worth doing at least once, otherwise get a day pass for the water bus (vapareto) and you can hop on and off all day as you explore the city. The day pass will also get you to Murano to see the glass factories etc. which is a nice way to spend an afternoon if you have the time.

Highly recommend this hotel. The staff are truly exceptional and will do anything for you.

Getting to this hotel was pretty easy from the airport. With the location right across from the main train station, we only had to cross one bridge to get to it. There are multiple ways to get to the resort, but we decided to take the public bus from the airport to the Mestre station, and at that point get on the train into Venice. It was a scenic route and took us a few hours from landing at the airport and getting our bags to the hotel, but was a simple (and cheaper) experience nonetheless which we enjoyed. We probably could've taken the Valporetti/water taxi which would've been quicker though (oh well!).

The hotel itself was simple and straightforward, had the Italian charm we expected and we never got the feeling of "just another Guest" like you can at some places you visit. The staff was very attentive, respectful, and personable which was great. They gave us recommendations and a great map that had the "main roads" highlighted which really helped us as we walked around the city. We stayed one night and the accommodations were spacious enough for us as a couple, and the bathroom was really nice as well. The rooms had a perfume smell for a bit which I wasn't crazy about but it was part of the Italian charm I suppose! The hotel has a lift which is great, so you don't have to drag your bags up stairs.

Overall I'd rate this a Very Good because Excellent would mean the hotel would have more space and features - but for the size and hotel that this is, and the location it's at, you can't go wrong really. As someone who lives in Orlando and is used to the service industry and knowing what good service is, I'd recommend Hotel Antiche Figure for its location, service, and friendly staff!

Dear Guest "Chadder39",
thank you for your nice words,
we were very pleased to have you as Guests in our house and we hope to welcome you back in the future!
Then,
we use our response to advise Tripadvisor readers about how to get to the hotel because Mr. "Chadder39" did not do use the easiest way!

From Marco Polo airport instead of catching a Bus to Mestre and then a train to Venice,
it is a lot better to catch a Bus directly to Piazzale Roma (in Venice) and then easily walk
to the hotel (we are 300 metres from Piazzale Roma).
The right Bus to catch is either
ACTV Bus (orange bus) it takes 35 minutes to get to Venice because it stops a few times before getting to Piazzale Roma
or
ATVO Bus (blu bus) which is a direct bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma (Venice).

We use our response even to tell to all the Tripadvisor readers that we are a hotel for beginners
but even for expert travellers ....... try our hotel and then let us know!!!!

We wish to you, "Chadder39" and to all Tripadvisor readers all the best,
regards,
Alessandro Fornasier

Had a room facing the canal. Great service from the front desk, bar, cleaning staff, etc. from the time we checked in to the time we left. They could not do enough for us. Breakfast was very good. Location is extremely convenient. Across the canal from the train station and bus stop to St. Mark's Square, etc. Opera houses were phenomenal. Hotel is an old building modernized with that old charm. Big room. Sat in chairs in front of hotel taking in everything. Good WiFi. A great experience and fun time.

Room Tip: Pay more and get a canal facing room.

We recently spent several nights here and were just as happy as we were when we first stayed here a few years ago. Francesca was just as pleasant and helpful as ever and the other front desk staff were also very professional and nice to deal with. The location couldn't be better. We hired porters to help us carry our large suitcases over the bridge to the hotel as we were a somewhat elderly group. You can and should bargain with them. It cost the six of us 5 euros each and they took six very large suitcases and many carryons. I believe they started out asking for 50 euros.
The rooms are very, very nice, comfortable beds and exceptionally clean. We loved exploring the area behind the hotel...much quieter and more interesting than the grand Canal, we thought. Lots of nice restaurants and small shops, small canals and bridges...just beautiful. The hotel staff will recommend several restaurants in this area which were very good. We hope to return again!

Probably the most hospitable and helpful hotel staff we have come across ever - their advice and suggestions on attractions and restaurants made our visit extra-special. The hotel is quaint and we'll-positioned on the Grand Canal, very good breakfast buffet. Our room was small but very clean and the bed comfortable. Really excellent.
