My warmest recommendation, polite and very helpful staff. My mother and I had such a nice and memorable stay at this hotel in 2008. Close to the railwaystation in a quiet narrow calle and close to the canals and streetlife.

We were also travelling with Edward D'mello & family and it's appalling to note the attitude of the hotel staff. Imagine you land up thinking that all the bookings have been done, as mentioned by Martina on the previous day before starting our trip to Venice. We were shocked to note that the hotel staff had given the room booked by us, to someone else just because it was the peak season and they managed to get higher rate. If they had little concern for their customers they would have taken immediate action to find a solution to the situation we were in. Instead they are trying to blame the customers once again. We had a lovely time in all the different places we stayed in Austria, viz., Vienna, Salzburg, Sankt Johann Im Pongau and also in Florence and Rome. But never again will I visit Venice with my family ever again nor recommend this hotel to anyone because of the sheer arrogant attitude of Pavi and Martina. Pavi because he acted naive and ignorant of the situation while on duty and kept calling Martina to find out what really went wrong and Martina for her don't care attitude - not bothered to even meet us f2f to sort out the situation. I don't know who played the mischief but then the room was given to someone else just because they got a better rate. This is the only hotel we faced problems in our entire 15 day tour.

We were disgusted with the service of Villa Rosa. We did a booking online for two rooms with Villa Rosa more than 3 weeks prior to our visit and when we were en route to Venice, the hotel calls up at the last moment saying that our credit card was declined. Despite that we gave them new credit card numbers and the hotel deducted the required fees. When we landed there, the hotel said that they had given out our rooms to someone else because we arrived half hour late. All our pleas fell on deaf ears.

Over and above that, the staff were extremely arrogant. The front office desk staff, a boy called Pavi, said arrogantly, "This is not my problem. You have to sort out your own accommodation." Pavi was also too painful despite the fact that we had children with us. It was only after we threatened that we would call the police, did he make alternate arrangements with another hotel, Hotel Adua, nearby.

We booked the hotel after reading the reviews here which said that the place is quiet and beautiful. The reality is something else. It is actually a narrow lane, led through a street stinking of excreta and filth.

Dear Mr. ,

Our staff contacted you three times ( two e-mail and one phone calls) to advise you your credit card information were incorrect and therefore the reservation was cancelled.

Our staff did not withdraw anything from your credit card, we found you another Hotel because you were harassing

Our staff made everything must be done in these situations

It was Mr. Pavi NOT YOU to call police because of your arrogant , aggressive , rude behavior.

Sincerely

Elena Marazzi

We chose this place since this is closer to the Santa Lucia railway station. Though this is very close to the station, you might be confused if you try to follow the google maps directions. I was helped by one of the reviews, which detailed the difficulties of finding the place and mentioned the correct directions - As soon as you get out of the station, walk to the left side, go past the Ponte Scalzi bridge. Just before Hotel Nazionale, you will see a narrow path - Calle Misericordia, enter there and after a few meters you will the hotel board at the top of the building.

This is an old building, so the rooms are old and small, somewhat congested. You will not feel like spending much time in the room - but in Venice , you dont have to.

Hotel staff was very friendly - no complaints there. Breakfast was average. San Marco square is a bit far, so it takes more than 30mins of actv boat ride to get there. Rialto bridge is about 20mins walk.

Overall - if you need to stay close to the station, and if you dont mind a small and old (but clean and functional) room, this is a good option.

Just 15-20 minute walking from rialto bridge, the area of villa rosa is very quite and very nice. Very clean hotel, they cleaned the room every day and changed towels too. Two disadvantages in my opinion is that in 2013 wifi should not be charged and that i would like in the venice breakfast an espresso and not american coffee. Overall is a very nice hotel. I would recomend it to friends.

Really helpful Front desk staff who speak English, German, Italian and probably more at this nice clean (2 star?) hotel.

Always responded to our daily requests for ice(!!!) and almost daily Tea platters (Tea, Milk, etc. - we were sick) with a smile. Lovely Lady tried to confirm our flights out A FEW TIMES but airline would not allow. Would not take a tip for more towels being brought to the room. Nice Gentleman gave us the choice of two rooms when we checked in. No lift so he helped me with a very heavy suitcase. 50 lbs?

"Five minutes from the train station." We had maps. I had written instructions to "Cannaregio 389, 30121 Venezia" from Google Maps (Worded in Italian). I had screen shots from the directions. We had the Trip Advisor City Guides App (I highly recommend). We asked at least 6 people in the area; most were puzzled and the helpful ones couldn't give us more than general directions... (I studied a bit of Italian before coming but knew just a bit) "right at the bridge you just passed (in Italian)." We knew it was hard to find. We knew it was at the end of a long alley, we did not have a data plan, so no active GPS. Took about 40 minutes to locate. If it weren't for a nice restaurant owner whom we asked twice, we never would have found it... Asked some very nice ladies at a local bar, but the language gap gave us just an idea we had gone too far (the directions in Italian were very useful). There was another couple looking for it as lost as we were.

Ends up this is a regional address not a physical address? So, Hubby dived into one of the narrow calle based on the restaurant owners directions and eventually came back with the location. Knowing Villa Rosa is on the Calle Misericordia (lol Misery?) is not going to help you as google maps shows that but local maps and building signs do not nor do locals have a reference for it. So, if you've gotten to the square with the church, you've gone too far. The calle is next to a gelato place. (Getting warmer... ha ha... and near a nice Bottle shop where prices were relatively reasonable for large water and Bellini bottle.) Villa Rosa Could help by giving better directions to their location.

It was extremely humid in Venice in June when we visited.

Clean linens. Working Air conditioner. Light European breakfast that included hard boiled eggs, two cereals, rolls, sweet croissants (would prefer plain), butter, jam, yogurt, honey, coffee/espresso machine and tea. I am wheat sensitive, so there was little for me to eat. Smallish bath with a HIGH step to get into it.

Wifi in lobby only, but it is free.

So, a nice inexpensive hotel near train and vapparetto stops with a very helpful staff.

Saw a review on another site that mentioned a smell. It is the area and not the hotel. There are various places in Venice that smell like this... (stagnant water is the nicest way to put it.) Air conditioning had cigarette smell at times even though it was non smoking hotel. Staff said must be from outside.

Yes, dated furnishings which are fine, in a smallish room, but bed was comfortable. If you are coming to Venice to stay in your room go to the Europa and Regina. (Now, a Weston Hotel. I stayed at the Europa & Regina 20 years ago.) We were booked by a travel company in the Villa Rosa. We would consider staying here again.

Sorry. I didn't take photos of the room.

Tucked nicely away from the throngs but not too far. Handy to the station, the vaporetto (water bus) etc. Room smallish but comfortable with a neat little balcony. Quiet and comfortable enough. Staff very friendly and helpful. Price reasonable for a tourist Mecca like Venice. Bed was OK for us: 5'10'' & 5'9" but could be a little short for over 6 footers. Breakfast similar to many other Italian hotels in the north all of which we found to be pretty good. Oh, one downer - the shower screen was very rickety and I had to piece it back together by hand a few times after the cleaners had been in and knocked it - even after I had already reset it.
