Our experience was excellent from the start. The staff could not have been more friendly and were extremely helpful.
We had a little trouble finding the hotel as the street name was half way down and not visible from the main waterfront but we were given directions by local residents.
The hotel was in a great quiet location across the Guidecca canal only a 10 minute waterbus ride on boats that were frequent wit a 24hour service.
We would definitely recommend this lovely hotel and would definitely return.

This is a lovely hotel with great breakfasts and extremely helpful and friendly staff. We had a room with a canal view which was warm, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area and the best sights to include on our itinerary.

Nothing was too much trouble for them. One morning we asked for extra croissants and they baked them fresh for us there and then.

Loved this hotel and will definitely come back. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I booked this hotel based on the positive previous reviews i read. I contacted the hotel prior to my trip and they provided detailed instructions and information explaining how i could get there from the airport including various options and prices. When we arrived we received a friendly greeting and one of our group was upgraded to a canal view room as it was her birthday. Andrea, the staff member who greeted us, provided great information on exactly how to get around Venice and explained the boat system to me in such a way that i had no trouble getting around for the duration of the trip. The hotel was reasonably basic but was spotlessly clean, had decent Wifi in the lobby, drinks and coffee were also available in the lobby and the breakfast was typically continental with cereal, fruit, croissants, yoghurt, ham and juices etc. I had no complains during my stay and have to give a special mention and thank you to Andrea and Elenna who were both professional, friendly and were always happy to help. Elenna was great when one of our party needed medical assistance and ensured we got the help we needed. In short, this is not a luxury hotel but i was very happy with my stay and if you want a clean, friendly hotel from which to explore Venice then look no further than the Domina Home Giudecca.

We stayed at the Domina Home for two nights over the New Year and I would have given 5 "stars" or excellent if we hadn't been given a ground floor room ( room 9) which had a view on a wall so absolutely no view or daylight plus we had the noise of the breakfast service as of 7.15 am. Being the holiday season the hotel was unable to change our room.
BUT, that aside, the hotel is great and the staff deserves a gold medal as they were not only extremely helpful during our stay but also before helping us reserve a decent restaurant for New Years evening. The hotel is located on the quiet Guidecca island which is just a boat ride from San Marco and the rest of Venice and is a great and quiet location to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing. The hotel has rooms with canal view so do reserve well in advance and ask to be on the upper floors!

Room Tip: Ask for the upper floors and canal view though this may come with a supplement. Avoid ground floor rooms.

Close enough to just cross the canal and walk to whatever you want, yet far enough away for a very peaceful night. The main popular areas of Venice are frequently under construction/restoration, and the night life can be a little loud, so if you are looking to travel into the city to see the sights, but want a full night's rest so you can do it the next day, this is a great place to stay. Two warnings: both the bed and shower are European, meaning smaller and less comfortable than Americans are used to. Other than that it is a great stay, with a great staff (also their full mini bar deal was pretty good!)
