“Great Stay, Great Location”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

This hotel has its own pier, which is great if you have many bags and take a water taxi from the airport and back because you will get door to door service. I booked a single room and was quite pleased with the size not big but not a closet, window facing the courtyard and quiet. The staff work hard to make sure that you are safe and happy with your stay and sitting outside at the tables is inexpensive and pleasant. Wifi is also free.

Room Tip: If you want a view, some rooms overlook the lagoon but you will pay a lot extra for that.

Facing the lagoon in all its splendour, this hotel is perfectly located to enjoy Venice from a different angle.
Well serviced by the vaporettos, ten minutes walk from San Marco square, five minutes walk to the Biennale expo grounds and its gardens.
Nice full breakfast, coffee machine for any coffee of your choice, a front patio from where you can enjoy the marvelous view, all in all a very pleasant experience.
Very friendly staff, comfortable room with all the necessities. Well maintained and very clean.
Located on via Garibaldi which has many restaurants, (the hotel manager was kind enough to point out several ones to pick from), and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere away from the buzz.
Loved it!

Stayed in the apartment close to the hotel. Had a great experience. Not too close to all the tourists, but close enough to walk to all the sights. The hotel staff was very helpful too, anything that we needed they were more than willing to give it

We had one night stay in Venice before boarding our Greek Island cruise ship and stayed at Hotel Ca'Formenta. This hotel is extremely clean and friendly - rooms and bathrooms are a bit tight but for a few night stay it is just fine. The breakfast in the morning is very good and offers a good bit more than your standard continental breakfast. Our booking also included a complimentary excursion to Morano, though I am not sure how standard this is. Hotel is ideally situated - because of Venice's layout with the Canal you cannot just take a taxi with your luggage to the hotel door. You have to take a water taxi and walk with your luggage over the bridges to cross the water canals. This hotel is a quick walk from the water taxi stop - which helped a lot. we had a great time coming and going with our exploring as this hotel is right in the middle of it all, but tucked away on a quieter street to ensure a good night's sleep. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing I was uncomfortable with was they insist on keeping your Passport for photocopying/details while you are led to your room. They didn't put up a fight when we refused, but I still found it weird and worth mentioning. Happy Venice-ing!

Great to be back! We stayed here in a regular room 8 years ago when this hotel hadn't been open too long. They stole our hearts back then and I'm happy to say they still have them this time.

We upgraded to the junior suite for this stay and were very happy with everything. We stayed four nights and had my husband's parents with us in a neighboring jr suite. They too loved this charming place and loved the staff who greeted us each day. We were tickled to recognize some of the staff from our previous visit and hope to see them again next trip.

Hotel Ca Formenta is only 7 short bridges from St. Marks, right beside the Arsenal Vaparetto stop which is super handy when you've spent the previous 11 hours walking all over Venice. The three day pass is well worth the money especially if you want to fit in a lot of sightseeing quickly, including Murano. As others have said the water taxi pulls right up to the back door of this hotel from the Grand Canal (best feature if you have lots of luggage or heavy luggage) and yet even though it is so close to everything, it somehow remains quiet and peaceful at night so that you can open your windows and sleep with fresh salty breeze. There is also air conditioning that actually works very well and is adjustable in the rooms, unlike many hotels in Europe for those hotter, muggier days.

These rooms go fast, book ahead and you will be really happy with your choice even though they are starting to show a little age here and there, the location and staff make up for these very minor differences. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Ca'Formenta for 3 nights and we had a great time. The room had a lagoon view and it was wonderful to open the curtains to such an ideallic view. The room was of a reasonable size and the bathroom was newly refurbished. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful but most of all the location and the price were perfect, just a 10 mintue stroll away from St Marc's square.

Stayed in this hotel with my friend for 3 nights in a twin room with sea view and balcony. We were very happy with the room which was quiet considering it was at the front, spacious, clean and gave a fab extensive view. We watched several huge cruise ships go by one morning, they absolutely dwarfed the unique canal fronted hotels and palaces. The ensuite was very small and included a basin, shower cubicle, bidet and toilet. The shower was lovely and hot, clean towels each day, very little floor space though and nowhere to put your toiletries! The beds were pretty hard but I have slept on worse. The location of this hotel is ideal away from the very busy central parts of Venice but still benefitting from great views. The hotel is at the beginning of via Garibaldi where there are restaurants, bars and shops. Breakfast is basic continental, no cooked breakfast available and coffee from a machine. It is served on tables in the only communal space in the hotel, this space serves reception, breakfast and the way through at the end to the rooms. On our last morning there were no free tables, so we had to wait for another guest to leave. This hotel is a perfect base for exploring Venice and after all that is what you come to Venice to do, not to stay in your room. With that in mind, I would recommend this hotel, although it feels more like a good B&B to me.

Room Tip: Sea view room adds to the Venice experience!
