“Nice place for a short stay”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

the hotel seems to be luxurios from some perspectives, but as it is in Venice the space is a challenge. We spent just 2 nights here with our friends. The rooms for the same price were different - one is somewhat spacious (~12m2) and another is tiny.
The breakfast was quite nice. The service was very good, and we falt some extra special touch when being gently served by people who speaks our language.
We had an (vomited) accident with the kid, who was a bit sick. Despite all the difficulties around this, the staff was very friendly and willing to help. When in the evening we requested just noodle, no sauce or so, for disturbed stomach, it was given for free.
What I'm still surprised in european hotels is paid WiFi. To me this is last century approach.

Room Tip: - if the restaurant or cafe around are too expensive for you, there are a few supermarkets aroud, so...

We stayed with a family and asked for interconnecting rooms. We were given a reasonable size room which had a strong stink interconnected with a tiny, tiny room. After two visits to the reception and massive push back, we were given 2 rooms down the hall from each other, which were slightly better. Out of the 6-7 members of reception staff that we encountered, I would say that 2 were friendly and professional whereas the rest of them could not be bothered, for eg, they could not even be bothered to look up from their computer screen while having a conversation with a guest.

I would avoid this hotel...

Room Tip: Each room is different - make sure you ask a few questions. We had the Superior Rooms - I would hate...

We stayed at this hotel for four nights in March 2013.
Location was excellent, five minutes from St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. Its right on a canal too, so you can get a water taxi right up to the hotel if you want, but its also only a few minutes walk from a direct public transport water bus to the airport as well.
The Hotel itself is in the style of a lot of italian hotels of this price range - quite formal and stuffy, very heavy on the ornate decor etc.., but it is very clean and plush. There were fresh flowers all around the hotel corridors, although as most of them were lillies the smell was a bit overpowering at times.
Staff were polite and helpful. efficient check in, and there was someone on the desk all the time, which is always good.
Rooms were ok. Although we booked a double room, we were given twin beds, which were not comfortable at all (very soft) and although we kept pushing them together they kept moving apart. Bathroom was nice (but very small bath, as are most in Italy).
No tea/coffee facilities in room and nowhere to get a drink, other than the restaurant, which we didn't want to go into just for a coffee. I think this hotel would be enhanced by having a bar of some sort.
Overall this is a pleasant hotel in an excellent location.

This is a very good hotel in a very good location (very close to San Marco, not far from Rialto). The room was clean and the bathroom was very clean and functional (all marble and new WC and bidet, tub and shower in the tub area). However the room was a bit smaller than expected. Not enough drawer space for two people's belongings. The ratio of quality to price was good because we got a special price through the internet. However, the room was on the back of the hotel and some work boats (laundry delivery/pickup, garbage pickup and construction items) pass by early in the morning (6-9AM) so there is some noise early in the morning and could wake up a light sleeper even though the windows are closed. We also didn't like the fact that the maids would stop by in the early evening before dinner time (when you might want to nap or take a shower) to ask you if they could "turn down the covers" for you. What a complete waste of time and an annoyance. The breakfast was very good, very complete. Even had scrambled eggs and bacon and everything else one would want. We did not however like the fact that there was no free WiFi. Why in today's day and age at today's hotel prices do hotels charge by-the-hour, or by-the-day for WiFi service? Do not eat dinner/supper at the attached restaurant "La Terrazza" even though the hotel gives you a 10% discount. The food is fresh and cooked well but it is way overpriced (as many things are in Vencie).

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the building may be quieter in the morning than rooms in the back of the build...

We arrived by prebooked private water taxi, at the hotel's private jetty, and were very impressed by the initial sight of the beautiful marble reception area and lovely dining room. It wasn't long, sadly, before that was spoiled by the attitude of the receptionist, who seemed to have better things to do than be friendly to new arrivals. We were shown to our room by the porter, and quite frankly the room did not match the initial grandeur we'd seen on arrival. It was adequate, clean and tidy, but at the rear of the hotel and fairly basic. You have to pay for wifi (the increments were 1 hour, 20 hours or a week, which seems odd?) and there is no facility for tea/coffee making in your room- we asked for this and were told they would provide it 'complementary on this occasion' - but didn't provide any milk so it was a pointless gesture.
The dining room at breakfast was very busy, but the buffet was excellent.
The hotel is excellently located in the centre of Venice, with Piazza San Marco, the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge fairly close.
A nice hotel, but we got the impression they want to cater to the well off, privileged traveller and did not seem interested in lowly tourists like us.

I was a little disappointed in the room and the service we received there. Otherwise, a beautiful hotel in a great location. It was hard to navigate through the hotel. The staff was not friendly at all. There was a nice water taxi stop entrance into the lobby.

We can't thank this hotel enough. We stayed in a diamond deluxe and it was worth the extra monry. Front of house service particularly god (Mr Marco).I must mention the location as well, smack bang between Rialto and San Marco-you can't beat that!

Thanks once again.
