I think the double room booked was upgraded as we had a very comfortable seating area as well as the double bedroom and en suite bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Overlooking a square at the back of the hotel which initially was a little disappointing but can't knock it for the price and probably quieter than being on the Grand Canal side. Very classically decorated room in reds and gold with marble bathroom. Very welcoming reception and helpful porter and all the staff and managers continued to be equally friendly, charming and helpful throughout our stay, assisting with maps, Vaporetto timetables and a guide book showing the local events. Wi fi in the room made it easy to check what was available to see and do. There are two supermarkets nearby to buy wine and snacks which we took up to the room. The breakfast includes fruit, cereal, yogurts, cold meats plus scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage (and chips and carrots which was a bit bizarre ).
The location could not have been better. They are literally yards from the San Angelo Vaporetto stop so you can get the bus right outside the airport then the Vaporetto to right outside the hotel. You can great the Vaporetto all the way too and from the airport but apparently there is quite a walk to where you get on and off the boats.

It's an easy stroll or an easy boat ride round to St Mark's square and in fact for anywhere you want to go via canal. Lovely little backstreets to wonder around and a quick hop over to Rialto market or the Peggy Guggenheim gallery. Trips to the Lido and Murano easily manageable from here. This is a Sina hotel which has a sister hotel near the Guggenheim gallery and as a guest of this one you can get a discount to eat a la carte in the other's restaurant. That's a 5 star and very sleek and modern but we actually preferred the one we were in for charm and warmth.
I would definitely recommend this hotel without hesitation and when we take another winter trip to Venice this will be our first choice of hotel.
