“A great choice in Venice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

I usually stay in an apartment when visiting Venice in September but visiting in the low season , Dec-Feb (excluding Xmas and Valentines day) , offers a great chance for high quality hotels at B+B prices.

The Carnival Palace is situated on the Fondamenta Cannaregio 10 yards away from the Tre Archi vaporetto stop with direct boats to San Marco , and the bus and railway stations. It's adjacent to the Jewish Ghetto and is the moments walking away from the bars and restaurants frequented by locals rather than undemanding tour groups.

The hotel itself is new , modern , well appointed and has lifts .

The rooms come in various grades (I stayed in a deluxe double) and are spacious with excellent bathrooms and large and really comfortable beds.

Free wifi is available. TV watchers may be disappointed ...all 3 English language channels are news channels.

Breakfast was included and was of an American/North European style with meat, bacon, cheese, eggs etc and only a few sweet pastries rather than the usual Italian fare of cakes and more cakes. And excellent coffee.

The staff are helpful , well informed and speak good English.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for visitors to Venice in any season.

I had an excellent stay here with my girlfriend! We were only here for a couple of days, but what I experienced of this hotel was brilliant. I love the location, we had an excellent view of the canal and our room was beautiful. The hotel itself is stunning and I love the entire design of it - there's evidently been a lot of thought that has gone into this. The staff seemed very approachable and friendly too. Most notably for me, the bed was possibly the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on!

This hotel is truly spectacular, there's no other way to describe it. We stayed in the deluxe room with canal view and it was definitely worth the extra money. There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning, throwing the curtains and windows open and getting a spectacular view of a Venetian canal and the surrounding architecture! The rooms are opulent, designed in rich golds, purples and blacks. They're so stylish and luxurious that you feel like you're on a spa trip!

The buffet breakfast was wonderful as well. There was a large selection of items, including Prosecco, and everything tasted great. An excellent way to start a busy day in Venice! Be warned though, the hotel doesn't do dinner, so it's necessary to eat out. I usually eat out anyway, but because it was snowing we decided to stay in, and that was when we discovered it wasn't an option. Still, we found a lovely little trattoria in the area and had a great evening.

The hotel is slightly out of the way of the main sights, but I was so grateful for it. The areas around the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco are appallingly busy. We were stuck standing in the street for 45 minutes, being crushed by people on all sides, in an attempt to get to the piazza. This was a fairly regular occurrence, due to the large number of people trying to get through the streets, so to be able to return to a quiet, residential area was bliss. I saw the outside of the Hotel Danieli and it was so horribly busy that I couldn't imagine walking outside every morning and facing that. Conversely, around the Carnival Palace is just a regular Venetian area, away from the hell of the tourist traps, but only a few minute's walk from a great part of the city full of little cafes, restaurants, shops and a marketplace, where it was busy in a fun way rather than in a stressful way.

Honestly, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The next time I'm in Venice, I know where I'll be staying!

On all aspects (aside for iffy wifi that dosent always work) this hotel is amazing!
The location is a little out of the main attractions, but we found that walking to st. marcus and Rialto brings you to areas of Venice that you would not otherwise find.
As an observant jew this hotel is fantastically located just 5 minute walk from the kosher resturants of Venice and the synagogues. As ell the hotel were very understanding to our religious needs and they provided us with manual keys to our room and disabled one of the electronic doors at the entrance so we can use it on Shabbat.
The staff are great and the rooms are just magnificent! the whole hotel gives a real luxury feel to it (though the rooms can definately do with a closet for belongings)
I will definately stay at this hotel again and recommend it to my friends!

Room Tip: I had the canal view suite (120) and really enjoyed the view!

Loved our stay at this gorgeous design hotel. The rooms were stylish and modern with mood lighting that changed colors and gold glass sinks in the bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful—and included Prosecco. The hotel is clean, new, modern, and opens right onto a small canal. We truly loved this hotel and would stay here again, however be aware that it's a 40 minute walk (or 40 min vaporetto ride) to the main sights around Piazza San Marco, so just factor in the cost of vaporetto day passes into the total price. Although the hotel is not super central, it is very convenient to the train station (10-15 minute walk), so if you are taking day trips this is a plus. Plus the prices were a great value for such a nice hotel (probably due to the further location).

My husband and I were traveling by train in Italy. I booked all hotels near the main station in each city. This hotel was the best in terms of size, design, equipments, cleanness and the value for money. It took a while to find the hotel first time when we were wondering around with the luggage from the station. But once you know the location of the hotel, it is convenient to take water bus to reach the main area of the city, since the bus station is less than one minute away from the hotel. And if you cross the small bridge, you can also find many cafes, restaurants and shops. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful.
I will certainly come back to this hotel when I visit Venice again!

Stayed at this hotel for two nights and stayed in a superior room. Room and bathroom very modern and clean. Very spacious and well laid out. Room was very quite, we did not hear anything, even though the hotel was full. Breakfast was a delight and the dining area was very clean. I would say that the tables were a little close to eachother but did not feel especially cramped. Hotel is very convenient when arriving into Venice and was very easy to find. I feel sorry for people trying to find hotels near St Marks Square because Venice is a warren of little streets and easy to get lost. Hotel is a little out of the way from the major tourist area but walking in venice is necessary so would probably be walking regardless of where you stay. Overall an excellant value for money, very modern and clean hotel with friendly staff
