While walking around in the San Polo district, we stopped at this panificio, Italian bakery, to purchase a pistachio cookie displayed in the window. We had seen a few places offering these lovely treats so we finally gave into our cravings and popped into this little shop to buy one.
Unfortunately, this was a mistake as we ended up purchasing a very bad cookie, the only food bought during our entire trip to Italy that we couldn't eat and had to throw in the bin. The cookie, looked fine. It was the right color of green and had shaved pistachio nut on the top. However, upon biting into the large cookie, we were both treated to a mouth full of salty doughy taste, more the likes of children's play dough instead pistachio or anything we could think of. One swallow of this was all we managed and the rest was deposited in the nearest bin. This was a shame as we had been doing so well with our food choices and hadn't come across anything terrible on our trip to this point.
Little to be said beyond sharing our experience above. Clearly, we will avoid this establishment upon future visits, if they are still in business at that time.
