Well priced, well situated 400metres from the Rialto Bridge. Very welcoming, helpful staff, comfortable plainly decorated room, clean and warm, loads of hot water in the shower.....

I booked this hotel and was a bit concearned after reading the review of other travellers... and I am not sure why people are writing all those horrible reviews....

This is one of the best place we stayied in Venice is a little bijoux in the heart of Venice is only a few steps away from the Rialto bridge and about 10 minutes walk from San Marc's squares.
The staff was really helpfull and we loved our room is very venitan. When you got to Venice you spent most of your day walking around town so the hotel was the perfect location as right in the centre of town and also has boat stop closed by. The Locanda has very reasonable prices compeared to most ot the very expensive hotels in Venice...
I want to thank all the staff to make our stay and our honey moon so special.

This place was a huge let down. My girlfriend and I knew Venice was an expensive city, so we thought that we would try to find something inexpensive for the few nights we were there. Boy did that backfire. First of all, it was difficult to find, but this is more of a result of the city layout than anything else. The entire establishment is a four rooms on the second floor of a building with a "front desk" sitting in the hallway. Inside, it is dark and dirty. Once we got into our room (#4 I believe), we realized that the King Size bed we had requested was simply two twins pushed together. The comforter had disgusting stains on it. The room was furnished with circa 1970s items. The shower and bathroom were tiny. The TV was small and rarely would even turn on. The air conditioning unit in the room didn't work, even though the manager insisted that the ~80 degree air coming out of it was cold enough. When we brought all these complaints to the manager, he rudely replied that Venice was just an expensive city and we would have to put up with our situation.
Furthermore, anytime we had a question or an issue, we usually couldn't find anyone to talk to. The manager or employee wouldn't arrive at the front desk (hallway desk!) until late morning every day, and would often leave around 5PM. While we stayed there there were no other guests in the hotel, which made it very creepy.

If you cannot afford to stay anywhere else and can put up with grungy conditions and a rude staff, this place may come close to meeting your low standards. Otherwise, steer clear and pay a few dollars more for something that doesn't look like somehtonug out of the movie "Hostel."

Arrived early and were told our room had a "problem," when in actuallity they had given it away and we were told to go to a different hostel that had a room available for us, when there wasn't. Thankfully the hostel they sent us to were kind enough to help us find another place to stay. This hostel will lie and cheat you! Do not book here!

Website photos & description misleading - appeared that it opens onto canal but it's down a dark alley & we walked past the dark door a few times without seeing it. Dingy entry & reception area. Triple room & bathroom OK. Breakfast served in room, cramped for 3 on 1 small table. We asked for breakfast at 8.30 & at 8.45 it hadn't appeared -receptionist said we hadn't told her what we wanted (she hadn't asked, and anyway the only choice was between the drinks). Our room overlooked old square (San Silvestro) - bar/cafe underneath (not belonging to hotel) with music & talking etc going on very late. Church bells serve as alarm clock at 7.30 a.m. Very expensive (cost us 170 euros per night). Receptionist only there until 4-5 p.m. First night we seemed to be the only guests there! Had stayed in Locanda Antico Fiore previously - much better. Handy location but don't like being misled.
