For the best view ofthe whole waterfront of Venice including St. Marks Square and the entrance to the Grand Canal, you have to go here and go up the campanile. There is a lift and the charge is modest. Make sure you have plenty of space on you camera. The views are stunning and a photographers' dream.
This is a huge church for the sole use of the monks of the attached abbey and the inside is, I thought, a little disappointing but well worth the visit.
