“Hotel Marconi - Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

We stayed here in July 2010. The Hotel Marconi is a lovely hotel. We picked it mainly due to reviews we read online but also for the location and you won't find many more hotels in a more picturesque location. It is literally steps away from the Rialto Bridge. we did spend a little bit more on this hotel than we normally would but were able to keep relatively within our budget and were quite happy with what we got.
The staff are nice enough, the room we were given was lovely, there is no internet access and we had a problem when we used our own hairdryer in the room, it tripped the fuse so all of the electricity to our room went but they were able to fix that quite quickly.
All of the major sites, like St. Marks Square, are within walking distance and there is two vaporetto stops outside along the canal nearby. There is also a stop for the water bus to the airport on the other side of the canal. The rialto market is also right outside the hotel.
Overall we were quite happy. We would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel during the month of July & had a pleasant stay. The hotel is located directly on the grand canal next to the Rialto bridge where there are alot of shops & many tourist. Our room happen to be quiet because we were not facing the canal.
Rooms were clean & the breakfast was the best we had out of all the hotels we stayed during our trip to Italy. Keep in mind there is not a lift. Matteo at the front desk was very helpful & a gracious gentlemen. We would definitely stay here again.
One word of caution: do not take the 'free' boat trip to Murano that the hotel offers. Once you get to the glass factory you are made to feel as though you have to pruchase one of their over priced items & then you have to pay your for transport back anyway! Take my advice, if you want to see murano pay the few extra dollars to take a water taxi or bus.

The hotel is nice, rooms are spacious. This was the least favorite hotel of our two week trek across Italy. The walls are thin! The area is a great location however it's a tourist trap. Not worth the price.

Staying at the Marconi was probably the best decision I made while planning my trip to Venice. The hotel's location is unbeatable, the setting is beautiful, the facilities are wonderful! My room was equipped with a superb bathroom which I found to be spacious and one of the most comfortable bathrooms I have seen in hotels throughout Italy. The staff are incredible!! the service is 5 stars. They were extremely friendly and professional. I will never forget how comfortable I felt there. I will definitely stay there every time I have the chance to be in beautiful Venice and will recommend the hotel to my colleagues and friends!

very nice hotel, the staff was friendly & helpful, located right by the Rialto Bridge & restaurants. The vaporetto stop is across the bridge, gondolas & water taxis right in front of the hotel. Beautiful atmosphere here and lots of people watching too! The room was small & doubt there is AC.. but who's in the room? Also, no elevator. The breakfast is downstairs in a cute room & includes ham & eggs.. it was good.

The perfect location if you want to be right in the heart of the tourist district which is fine. The problem is that the rooms are a bit tight. Mine overlooked the alley and if you love the smell of burning grease all night then this is the place! No elevator, but I guess I should have know. The porter and housekeepers were nice but the jerks at the front desk were, well, jerks. I guess they figured they don't need to be nice since it is a good location. Breakfast was good. But again, greasy smells and loud. If you like that, then stay here.

I booked this hotel from hotel's official website in advance with a high rate. I booked two rooms with the same tariff for two couples. As we were reaching around 3-4 pm in the evening, I informed the hotel that we will check-in between this time and got confirmation that it is fine. I thought I have taken utmost care to avoid disappointment but you never know. Surprise was waiting for us to welcome in Venice.
When we reach hotel, receptionist said that we have only two rooms, one at ground floor and other at 4th floor and choose which one you want among yourself. Its like divide and rule. Ground floor room was weird and 4th floor room was kind of ok. Entry to Ground floor room was via breakfast room and was not at all for the price we paid. We argued that the we can't stay in that room and they have to shift us to another hotel without any further charges. They denied changing the room and denied to shift us any other hotel.
To save themselves they said that we have upgraded you for the 1st room and we have only 1 room left for 2nd room and offered complementry champagne. Anyway this was not over, room was quite small, old, noisy and no heating. You can hear clearly people walking next door. Anything you ask from reception, answer is that you need to contact Hotel OWNER and they don't have his/her contact number.
There is a scam going on between this hotel and glass factory. They offered us to give a free boat transport from hotel to glass factory. You think that it is a complementory but it is not. If you don't buy anything from glass factory than you are left alone at that island to find your own way back. It happened with another tourist staying in the hotel. We bought expensive glass item and hence were treated well.

This hotel is next to Rialto Bridge hence convenient and centrally located but not worth the price. You can find much better hotel for this price. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but choice is yours.
