We stayed at the bel sito for the first leg of our honeymoon to Italy. The hotel was everything I'd imagined an Italian hotel to be like- charming!
The location is perfect as its so near to st marks square and easily accessible to water bus stops but far away enough to be quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed sitting outside having breakfast in the morning and taking in the beautiful surroundings ( breakfast was lovely)
We have just finished up our last day in Rome and have been to florence too- bel sito and venice have by far been our favourites so far and we'd defiantly love to return!

My friend and I had the privelege of staying 3 nights at this quaint Venetian hotel, closely located to the Giglio vaporetto stop. Antonio was at the front desk to warmly greet us and check us in to the Bel Sito. The hotel offers a delicious daily breakfast that serves a nice assortment of items; especially good are their hot drinks, including hot chocolate...my personal favorite. The hotel room is small (even by European standards), but full of charm and personality. The ceilings are high and show off the glass chandelier and fabric covered walls perfectly. There was a wardrobe adequate for storing our clothes, but not enough room to house our suitcases, which made navigating the limited space a bit awkward but with a good attitude, manageable. I would highly recommend this enchanting hotel for anyone traveling to Venice.

Spent one night at this hotel, staff were friendly, location was great - very close to a watertaxi while still being very quiet. Rooms are very small but they are neat and tidy and the bathroom was clean. Only view was of other buildings but once you are in Venice you realise that this is extremely common and hard to avoid. There was a little bit of renovation noise which was only a problem cause it was raining so much we were inside a lot.

We booked a four night stay through Expedia - the only option unfortunately was a standard double room at £132 per night.

Check in was efficient. The room was clean, very dark rococo style with wallpaper going across the door making a small room seem even smaller. Lighting was pretty poor - from the highly ornate Murano glass lights. There was just enough room to get around the bed. The room had a small window overlooking a central courtyard, but this didnt allow much light in. The bed was comfortable, the pillows werent. The bathroom was small. All in all - somewhat claustrophobic to be honest, and not what we really wanted. We were somewhat shocked and obviously didnt spend any time in the room apart from sleeping - then we were out and about Venice. Yes, that is what you do in Venice - but just occasionally it is nice to relax in one's hotel room. Not possible in this one though.

We did see into a couple of rooms at the front of the hotel, and these looked quite spacious - particularly in comparison to ours! Perhaps these were the deluxe or superior rooms. If you go, i would strongly urge to book with the hotel and not expedia - and ask for a big room overlooking the church.

Breakfast was pretty awful - basic cereal, tinned fruit, dreadful looking spam stuff, jam, some bread rolls and luckily boiled eggs. Phew - our saviour - at least we could get some bread and boiled eggs in to see us through the first part of the day - and the coffee was fine. Overall, they really could and need to do better in what they offer for breakfast.

Waiting staff were very pleasant.

The hotel is excellently located for St Marks Sq and the Grand Canal - but most places in central Venice are good locations and easy walking distance to the square, so location isnt that important. And, as we discovered in walking around everywhere, there are many other nice parts - much quieter, in the city.

We arrived by shared water taxi from the airport - and then a short walk. On leaving we booked a private taxi which came to the back of the hotel and took us to the airport - but these cost about 100 euros.

Would we go back to this hotel? - No, I think we would get better value if we rented an apartment and used the fruit and vegetable and fish markets for food - with the odd excursion to a decent restaurant, which are rare in Venice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front overlooking the church - as these look bigger and obviously get moreligh...

Spent four nights at this hotel - comfortable and in a very central position. Room overlooked canal with gondolas passing by. Breakfast adequate buffet, staff very helpful. Only draw back was that WiFi not available in certain areas of bedroom, our bedroom being one of them. Overall though, would recommend to other travellers.

Room Tip: If you are hoping for WiFi check that it is available in room prior to booking.

Stayed in here for two nights a couple of months ago. The hotel is strategically located with just minutes walk from a water bus stop and minutes walk from San Marco. Getting around Venice could not be any easier.

The hotel is very clean and updated without sacrificing authentic characters. The staff was very friendly during our visit, and the room comes with breakfast. The hot coffee with milk was our favorite beverage in the morning.

The hotel is right across the church of Santa Maria Zobenigo (beautiful building) and surrounded by wonderful little shops. One of my favorites is just right across the hotel, a tiny glass art shop, called FGB.

But if you're looking for wonderful authentic gelato, you need to move away from the San Marco neighborhood and head to Dorsoduro where I had the best gelato with 100% real pistachios.
