“Amazing location and a balcony!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2011

We found this hotel on Trip Advisor and it had some very rave reviews so we decided to give it a go and were well rewarded. The location was super convenient it was easy to get our luggage in from the airport was close to Rialto bridge, San Marco and what seemed like an endless choice of restaurants for dinner as well as a supermarket. We never got lost once and found that being able to simply follow signs from anywhere in venice back to Rialto made transversing the city a breeze. The owner is very friendly and ready to help if you need it, and to top it all off our little hotel room no.2 had a balcony overlooking a canal and bridge which was a blessing, but be aware the canal view makes the room a little louder as the street noise travels down the canals quite loudly.

Room Tip: Ask for room number 2, a balcony and a window.

Hotel Al Vagon is our number one choice for Venice. We have always found the service excellent and this time was no exception. We arrived to be told the "acqua alta" was expected each morning of our stay but not to go and buy boots, they had some we could borrow. A good thing too, we wouldn't have been able to leave the room for breakfast without them the first morning.

We booked the Hotel Al Vagon because of it's central location and because of the great price. Our room was really nice, not only compared with what you usually get for that price in Venice. The interior was quite recently renovated and in good shape, obviously filled with a lot of "venetian style" decoration but still very nice and cosy. The bathroom was large, very clean and also in very good shape. The only two negative points are concerning the noise level: The walls must be made of paper, we could hear every giggle of our young and not very silent neighbours. The windows of the room weren't very great either; our room was facing to the street, right opposite to a juice bar that was open from 8 in the morning until 2 at night. Unfortunately their music player was constantly playing annoving music at high volume. From two until four in the morning (Saturday night) we had different drunk and psychopathic teenagers under our window bellowing in continuation.
I still would recommend this hotel as it offers a very nice room in central venice at a great price. Just make sure to bring your earplugs!

This hotel is in a great location, on one of the main walks through to the Rialto Bridge. Once you get the hang of the street signs telling you which way to go it's easy to find your way out to the major attractions and back to this hotel.

We stayed in one of the larger rooms overlooking the canal, and that was really pretty special except for the traffic ... yes, traffic! There were boats going up and down the canals until quite late at night and starting quite early in the morning, and there was also a lot of activity unloading supplies for the resturant down below.

The other noise issue was that the walls seem to be quite thin in European hotels, and this one was no exception. We could quite clearly hear the people in the room next door as they came and went, and slammed the door every time they did so :-(

It took me ages to try and look for a well priced hotel in Venice with positive reviews. Then found Al Vagon. I must say we were extremely happy with the choice. We were in another building behind the hotel on the first floor with no view but did not mind. Although a one star hotel, the refurbished rooms together with the ensuite were spacious and very clean. One has to remember that it is only one star and that there is no internet, no b'fast and only italian tv channels. The hotel is in an excellent location with lots of coffee shops, restaurants and bars. The directions given on the web site are spot on. The only suggestion would have been for a kettle in the room. Highly recommended.

Close to the Rialto Bridge and good location for the shopping, little away from the city centre but very close to the public transportation. Rooms not large but recently renovated and clean, bed little hard. Good value for money considering the location.
Rude check in guy, but in finally we want to stay again for the budget price.

5 minuted from the Rialto Bridge, a good little cafe in the same square, clean, comfortable, quiet, good shower and bed, what more do you need? Pleasant decor, small, but a good price. Highly recommended.
