My mom and I had a great 3 night stay one week ago. The location is perfect - you are so close to St Mark 's Square but it was a nice and quiet refuge from the near-by hustle and bustle. Our room was exactly as described and as seen in photos on their website. Very clean, wifi worked great from our room. Breakfast was also very good with fresh pastries and cappuccino or coffee made to order. We would definitely stay there again!

Venice may be lovely, but our hotel Locanda Al Leon was less than lovely, ha! To be totally truthful, it wasn’t that bad. Just a bit outdated. It was clean, but the carpet looked like it had seen better days (like when it was installed a couple of decades ago). The good news was that we had chosen to stay right off of St Mark’s Square which was the ideal location for us since we were only in Venice for a day.

My father and I stayed in a twin room, which was so spacious and beautiful at Locanda Al Leon on Calle dei Albanesi. It was definitely the best accommodation we stayed in during our 3 weeks of travel - large twin bedroom, with adjoining sitting room, and a lovely modern bathroom. In fact it was the only place we stayed where my dad didn't complain and only singed it's praises - and that says a lot if you know what it's like travelling with my dad who's over 70 and likes to complain on holiday!!

On arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful staff member who carried all our bags up to our room and was happy to help in any way he could. The other staff members we met during our 4 day stay were all very kind, happy and so helpful. They really made it an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay, and were such lovely people to chat to and share some stories with. They booked for us and walked us down to a restaurant on our first night, and also walked us down some of the streets to make sure we knew our way to different attractions - nothing was a problem, they really were genuinely keen to make sure we had a lovely time in Venice. We remember one of the staff members in particular who helped us a lot and really made my dad feel at home and quite special - his name was Red.

If you want to soak up the Venetian atmosphere and ambiance, then this is the place to be!! It's an original Venetian house with beautiful period interior design with plenty of restaurants and shops around the corner. It's so close to St Marks square (less than a 5min walk), and a short stroll to Rialto (5-10min walk) and pretty much everything there is to see, for example L'Accademia. The vaporetto stops for San Zaccaria and St Marco are straight down the street so it's super easy to get around by boat or go for a gondola ride.

I would definitely book this place again and recommend to all!! Love the building, love the people.

Spent our first 3 nites in Italy here. Having never been to the country before, we were unsure what to expect. The room was clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. Bathroom was modern with small shower. Room &hotel lighting was gorgeous Murano Venetian glass. Our room overlooked a busy little piazza with restaurants and street vendors-so scenic. The location was perfect and very easy to find/seemed central to everywhere we walked. Staff was always present and helpful. Felt extremely safe. Breakfast was cereal/fruit/pastries/yogurt. Would love to visit again!

As many of reviewers have said, this hotel is great because of the location! My husband and I stayed in Venice for two nights and used Rick Steve's book for hotel recommendations. We knew Venice is a walking city, so we wanted to make sure we were close to the action and we were not disappointed with this hotel. It's located right by St. Mark's Square and also right near lots of great restaurants and bars. I much preferred this location versus other spots that we walked in the city. It's a small hotel, but the room was actually pretty spacious (we got the lowest level room). The bathroom was very modern and I liked the old school venetian feel to the hotel overall. We were located in the nearby annex building which is where the breakfast room is located. Breakfast was good and offered the normal selections that you see in Italy. We would certainly return to this hotel in the future. The hotel was very safe and you have to get through several locked doors to get to your room. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: The standard room provided plenty of space and a modern bathroom

We spent 2 nights here and loved it! It was very quiet, super comfortable, with air conditioner, and included a delicious breakfast. Marcela and Giuliano were very helpful and nice, giving us directions and making sure our staying was perfect. Thank you!

My 14 year old son and I stayed here in May. The staff are extremely welcoming, the hotel is clean and charming and reasonably priced. Our room had shutters opening out to a small piazza. The hotel is well situated. Don't worry about reviews saying it's hard to find, there are always lots of people you can ask for directions, it really wasn't hard to find. If I was to ever go back I would definitely stay again. Unfortunately we didn't meet Marcella but Guiliano has a great sense of humour and was a wonderful host.
