“Not value for money”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Well the hotel is located at walking distance from the St Lucia station, which is its highlight. The breakfast too isnt bad.

It is located at quite a distance from Saint Marco which isnt entirely a bad thing since the walk through the alleys and walkways is quite interesting.

Coming back to the hotel, the receptionist wasnt warm or friendly and there was no private bathroom. To add to it, our room was at 2nd floor and without a lift or help its a pain to carry the luggage upstairs and bring it down.

Room Tip: Take a room on ground or 1st floor if you're carrying good amt of luggage.

Only a 5 - 7 min, walk to the hotel. As soon as you exit the train station, you'd see the river with the water taxis & vaparetto. Walk out & turn Left. As soon as you reach the 1st building on your Left (3min walk), you'd see an arched bridge. From where you are, start looking out for a narrow alley on your Left between 2 restaurants. Signage is High up on the wall between the 2 restaurants. Take that narrow alley way & within 3 mins, you'd be at the hotel reception desk. Note: if you in front of the arched bridge, you've walked pass that narrow alley.
It was a breeze to the hotel but it was 2 storeys up to my room with heavy luggage, a mild inconvenience.
Location is idea with the vaparetto in front of Santa Lucia Train Station, ready to ferry you around Venice. Breakfast was provided which was good. Room was clean. Safe Deposit Box came handy.
Walking to the bus station proved more challenging. It was a short walk (10 - 12 mins) but it took quite a lot of effort for me to carry my luggage across the bridge. Quickly buy your tickets prior to boarding the bus. (30 - 40 mins to the Airport).
Caution: Buy your tickets before you board the vaparetto. I watched 2 American tourist being fined Euro49 or 59 each for not having tickets.

The Stella Alpina Edelweiss is an easy walk from the Plaza Roma bus that comes from the airport, easy access to the cruise port, and very close to the Santa Lucia train station. It is located in a major tourist area, although it is down a quiet alley so you are away from the noise. The vaporettos down the Grand Canal are very close, as are tons of shops and restaurants.

The staff is very nice and actually let us check into our room when we arrived at 10 a.m. Our room was small and had a bathroom shared with another room down a long hallway. The room had a queen bed, side table, desk and bureau. It also had a sink, which was very convenient since it was not ensuite (they do have ensuite rooms for a higher price). The television in the room did not work. Of course, 100 Euros doesn't buy much in Venice.

There was a hotel computer for a fee but we didn't use it. The free hotel breakfast was quite good and was your typical European breakfast of breads, meats and cheeses. Overall, the hotel was pretty standard but its location was great and the staff were very nice.

The location is excellent, especially if you are arriving by train; it was easy to find and we did not have to drag our suitcases too far. The room was fine for that price in Venice, where you can pay a lot more for the same kind of accommodation. We did not care that the television was small as we do not watch it anyway. The breakfast was delicious; just a croissant and coffee are typical for Italian breakfast and it is nice to be hungry at lunch time, not exhausted from overeating at a huge buffet. It was lovely to stay right in the city of Venice and not have to commute from Padova in order to save money.

Wandering around Venice in the evening was very pleasant with Stella Alpina hotel waiting for us each night.

We thought this hotel is a great find and would recommend it to anyone who does not have unlimited cash.

the location is very near to the venezia lucia station. therefore, it's easy to move to the station directly after you check-out. It's expensive, but maybe because of the location.
the room is small, with small TV too (very old TV style).

We came to Marco Polo Airport super late and to the hotel abot 1am. The hotel staff was supper nice.
Good things- this hotel is close to restaurants, shops and just about everything and if you plan to take a train, can't beat the location. Takes 5 min to walk. Breakfast really good, and you have a choice to eat inside in the nice dinning room or in the cute garden.
Not so good - bed a bit hard and there is no an elevator, be prepare to carry your suitcases.
All in all, very good choice in Venice. I would come back.
