Location is central and very close to Piazza San Marco. Breakfast has a good variety of food and you can have a coffee with cookies during the day The building is well cared. The staff was very kind and attentive. Our room was nice and clean but we had a little problem with the heater that was always too hot. But this was not a big problem because we spent only 2 nights and the weather was very cold outside. I recomend the hotel. It's a perfect place to stay in Venice!

A really lovely Hotel in a fantastic location. So close to all of the water buses and Taxis direct from the Airport. And within a couple of minutes walk into the Square itself.
The bed room was very clean and comfortable and all of the staff were so helpful and happy to answer all of our questions. This included all of the staff on reception and staff working in the lovely breakfast area. The food and content for each of the breakfasts we had booked were totally acceptable and very high quality. I would love to stay here again.

We had a fabulous stay. Highly recommend it. It was very close to San Marco Square and within easy walking distance to taxis and buses. Breakfast was substantial especially compared to friends breakfast in another hotel. It was very quiet.

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Our room (301) was huge with a huge terrace overlooking the canal and gondolas. The bathroom was well equipped and clean (but they must have slight damp issues in the roof) Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The staff were constantly refilling the buffet. Reception staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a vacation in Venice

Room Tip: Room 301 is a junior suite and is very spacious

This hotel is within walking distance of the San Marco - and so if you catch the waterbus from the airport it is ideally placed. There is a Gondola station next door - where you can watch the gondolas depart from breakfast - and hear the occasional singing as well! San Marco is no more that five minutes walk away - Rialto Bridge is around fifteen minutes (make sure you follow the signs though because you will get lost).

Comfortable rooms - I say surprisingly quiet as Venice can be noisy - especially at night when everyone is walking home (some worse for wear). We had a first floor room facing out onto the square - and left the window open all night - and still got excellent night's sleep - finally closing the window at dawn when the Gondola station starts up (good soundproof windows as well). Bed was comfortable and the facilities good also.

Breakfast was good - as per usual like many hotels they could do with a toaster - but that aside the choice was excellent. Check in was courteous.

When you look at the choice of Hotels in Venice - some for absolutely outrageous prices - the Hotel Violino D'Oro compares favourably and should be on your consideration list. We would stay there again.

We booked our room last minute and I couldn't have been happier with the location at just a couple of blocks over from St Mark's square. There's also a gondola stand right next to the hotel which was an added convenience. The room was really nice and updated.

This was our first time to Venice and trip to Italy. The hotel is a truly good location-close walk to everything. Our room was nothing special-first floor quiet facing back street, so no view of gondolas. Although the room was pretty tight, everything worked fine, and the ac was wonderful. The bathroom was small, but clean and plenty of towels & shampoo/soap etc.. They even gave you toothbrushes/paste/cotton pads/shower cap. It was replenished daily. Included in our room rate was a bottle of wine which was to be delivered the first night. I mentioned that to the front desk the second day and they gave me a bottle of prosecco & glasses right then & there. When we walked into our room, there was the prosecco! So I gave the extra bottle to some folks who were sitting in the hallway and they enjoyed it.

The staff were pleasant, but were not helpful at all for restaurant recommendations. I even communicated via email & at check in that it was my husband's 50th birthday but they never helped us find good places. I do have to say, that the meals we had in Venice were very disappointing and very expensive. After coming from Rome & Florence where we had fantastic food, that was a big let down.

The one really bad thing about the hotel was the quality of the breakfast. It was worse than a Hampton Inn-seriously stale breads and vending machine quality danish-very strange. They did have eggs-scrambled-fake eggs-yuck. The bacon was odd, there was no fresh melon, I think they had some apples. There was some yogurt and meats. As others noted, they were not good about replenishing quickly and it was very sparse after 9:15am. There was a waiter who would make great cappuccino's the only saving grace to the breakfast in my opinion.

Overall, would

Dear Customer,
thank you for your appreciation about cleaning and location. On the other hand, we are really sorry to learn about your disappointment with the rest of your stay. For this reason I took just a little more time to write this reply.
As all the other hotels in Venice, we have rooms facing the canal beside, some other facing the “Campiello” in front and others facing the “Calle” on the back; this is the beauty of Venice. To see the gondolas, you should have booked a canal view room which is included in a package, sold exclusively on our official web site (Carmen promotion).
We do really take care about our breakfast; our “artisan of breakfast” Claudia and Nicola, offer many kind of homemade cakes, pastries, and savoury food like pizzas, etc., cooked at the moment, as well as bread. So this must have been the reason why sometimes you have had to wait few minutes to have the buffet replenished.
We also serve croissants, yogurt, cereals, mixed cold cuts, cheese, juices, fruit and so on. Bacon is prepared following suggestions of English guests (where the bacon is born); the same regarding scrambled eggs, which are made with real eggs. We regret you didn’t find melon, but we only use seasonal fruits, therefore it was not probably available during your stay. Anyway, should you needed melon, we would have been glad to provide it to you.
At last, we have two machines (not vending): one in the bar for espressos and cappuccinos, which are prepared using of course only first-quality grain coffee; the same philosophy concerns with the American one, which is made by another machine situated in the kitchen and used exclusively for this reason. Also this machine is filled only with first-quality coffee in grain (many others use soluble one) which is specific for this preparation, so different from the one we use for espressos and is usually very appreciated from the most of our guests. I guess maybe you have made some confusion with the hotel you have been in Florence or Rome because we don’t have vending machines.
Concerning the restaurants, we selected some traditional of them in order to avoid the risk to have “touristic” surprise about food or price. Our staff is provided with a list of these restaurants we trust to and we don’t see any reasons why they would have not advise you correctly. Obviously we try to do the best to suggest a range of restaurants with a good match between quality and price.
We really regret you have been disappointed with your food experience. We hope you have the opportunity to come back in Venice to enjoy all the wonderful things Venice has to offer.

With kind regards
Edrik Tiozzo
