My husband and I recently spent 5 nights in Hotel Violino d'Oro which was recommended to us by friends who had stayed there the year before. It is right in the heart of Venice, a short 5 minute walk past great shops from the ferry wharf to the hotel. It is situated right beside a canal which is very quiet at night, but during the day can keep you amused watching the tourists and the Gondoliers. It is 5 minutes walk to the wonderfully restored Opera House, and in the other direction to Piazza San Marco.
The bedroom we had was very comfortable - compact, but with plenty of hanging space, bedside tables, desk and tea and coffee facilities as well as a mini-bar and free WiFi. The bathroom was excellent, with a heated towel rail - good for getting clothes dry and heated floor. There was a clothes line as well, so for people like us who were travelling for a long time being able to wash our clothes and get them dry quickly was wonderful.
The dining room was intimate with small tables, but worked very efficiently. The food was replenished quickly and was always fresh. There was a good assortment of food for all tastes. The bottle of Prosecco at breakfast alongside the fruit juice was a nice touch for Honeymooners and those enjoying a romantic few days in Venice.
The staff were helpful when approached, and the rooms were clean and fresh.
I can recommend Hotel Violino d'Oro for a perfect place to stay in Venice. We would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for the room overlooking the canal and the smalll plaza for a lovely view.

Very nice and charms atmosphere in the best location. Friendly and professional staff. Price reasonable and very clean room. Will book it again when I go to a Serenissima. Thank you staff of Violino D'Oro.

Our room was meant for two and we were three, so we had to put all the beds one right next to the other so nobody would hit the lamps on the wall. The bathroom was okay, had the towel heater, but the shower was dreadful, it kept moving towards the wall.

Spent three nights at this hotel, very cosy and nice, tasty breakfast, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, perfect location. The price was reasonable, taking into account the time of Carnival. I advise everybody to stay at this Venice hotel.

Very close to San Marco - next to Salvatore Ferragamo. Definitely no shortage of shopping around here. Location wise it is excellent! Gondolas were literally on the door step. Rooms were spacious and warm (in winter). Breakfast was good. Staff were attentive at all times and helpful.
