We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Canaletto. The location could not have been better - just a 5 minute walk to both St. Mark's & Rialto Bridge. The rooms were clean and a bit small and older, but that is to be expected in Venice. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good, although the selection was a bit limited. Would stay here again.

My husband and I were in Venice for 4 nights and stayed at Hotel Canaletto in our same honeymoon trip after we stayed at Greece. The room and bathroom was clean and well put together. One downfall was the size of the big. For me, it was perfect since I am only 5.3” but my husband being 6.2” he had his feet coming off the mattress. Other than that we had no problems. The staffs were very helpful and welcoming.

Not the most convenient location - on a small street. We found it using GPS. The staff was nice and gave us good recommendations for dinner. They also arranged a convenient tour to Murano for us- transportation over is free but you must take a water bus back at your own expense.

Breakfast was okay - the breakfast room decor could be updated. The room was smallish and clean. Very Venetian decor - cute while you are in Venice. Wish they had an elevator since I had a bad shoulder. The desk clerk offered to put my bags on the handicap chair but I managed to carry them up and down. Was fine with the stairs when I wasn't carrying luggage.

There was a very busy restaurant with outdoor tables just outside our window - filled with teenagers and college age students. It only emptied late at night or when it was raining. That kept us from opening the windows but it wasn't a big deal.

Our flight departed very early Sunday morning so we left the hotel around 4 am. We had spoken to the night desk clerk about our departure on Friday night - we didn't want to take any chances with such an early flight. As we were leaving early Sunday morning, the night desk clerk helped me carry my bags out to the street and then handed me two paper bags - the hotel had packed each of us a breakfast. It was a total surprise and quite tasty.

I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the back side away from the noisy restaurant.

Stayed here in May and wish I didn't. Room faced an area that was loud due to restaurant and its a main alleyway to
Main thoroughfares.
Bed was like sleeping on concrete and pillows were stiff.
Not worth the money.
People here all seem rude.

It is a smallish hotel located on a typical Venice alley having access to only pedestrian traffic. No direct access to water or surface transport. Lack of elevator facility is a constraint within the hotel. Rooms are clean but there is hardly any opportunity to get a view of the outside environment through the windows. Air-conditioners exist in rooms but the hotel authorities do not run them in April despite the heat. Breakfast menu is standard. Only one lady at reception was helpful. The porter was non-cooperative and rude. Staff members in general are cold and indifferent to customers.

Room Tip: Suggest avoiding a stay.

The service was very good , to find the location was not so very good we arrived in the evening and we couldn't find it because it was in a small street and it was dark if it was day we could read the plate with Hotel Canaletto.

Canaletto is a smaller, very friendly property, in a great location just a couple of minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A little difficult to find (like anything in Venice - which is part of the history and beauty of the city). Rooms are small, clean, adequate, with standard queen or twin beds. Beds are comfortable. Good toiletries in bathroom. Breakfast room had good food options and nice service. Newer single unit air conditioners in each room which appear to work although we did not need them. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel is situated in the heart of the romantic city of Venice, in a very quiet position just 200m from the beautiful St. Mark’s Square and the famous Rialto Bridge. It is the ideal starting point to set off through the alleys to discover the wonderful monuments and typical shops which hide all the ancient, fascinating mysteries of Venice. The hotel takes its name from the famous Venetian artist, Antonio Canal, who was known as Canaletto. The rooms where the artist used to live (1697-1768) have now become our elegant hotel rooms. A friendly, elegant, romantic and quiet atmosphere furnished in typical 18th century Venetian style, with stucco work, damask, hand lacquered and gilded furniture, Murano glass mirrors and lamps. All rooms are soundproofed and have private bathroom with shower or bath, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, minibar, sat TV, hair dryer and safe. There are also our superior rooms with views of the canal or the typical square with the well-curb. The elegant public rooms (breakfast room, bar, TV room, internet point and Wi-Fi access) are all decorated with stucco work and the antique smoothed lime finish, and have some lovely reproduction of Canaletto’s works on the walls. ... more   less
