We had read the reviews before we booked this hotel so were expecting a comfortable stay. The reviews are correct in the fact that the staff are lovely and helpful, the breakfast is good, the hotel is exceptionally clean and the hotel is centrally placed-difficult to find- but near St Marks and the Rialto. Our room though was basic and small. The single beds were only 2' 6'' wide, the mattress not big enough for the bed frame so every time you walked passed the bed you whacked your leg on a sharp metal bed frame, you were only given one pillow and one spare blanket for a twin room, I do realise that you can ask for another but why not just put them in the room? The bathroom is very small and if you have the window open the shower curtain blows into the shower curtain (which sticks to you) and the floor is flooded. As a hotel it's ok but we wouldn't stay there again.

Although we only stayed one night, our experience at Hotel Canaletto was a very enjoyable one. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and neatly decorated and structured, and the location was excellent, if a little difficult to find.

Positives: Again, the staff. We had an early check-out, which was technically before breakfast was available, but the man at the front desk allowed us to take a few things to go for our trip. Also, we received 30 minutes of complimentary wi-fi, which was nice.

Would recommend and stay again.

What makes a good hotel? Room, facilities, decor? How about the staff? The staff make the Canaletto. The Canaletto is a small homely hotel in a great location, close to St. Marks square and the Rialto bridge - a 4 - 5 minute walk from either. Locally, there are numerous shops, restaurants, bars etc.all close by.
The rooms at the hotel are small which is to be expected in Venice, but are well appointed with flat screen tv, mini bar, desk and side bed tables. The bathroom is small but functional with a bidet and shower - so in other words, all the normal amenities. The downstairs breakfast room serves a filling continental breakfast, featuring, juices, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, various breads and rolls, spreads and warm pastries, tea and decent coffee.
We found the staff to be helpful and obliging at all times. Unfortunately, whilst I was there, I was admitted to hospital for two days; the staff couldn't have been more helpful towards my wife, offering her unlimited complimentary wi-if to keep in touch with the family back home, tea or coffee anytime she would like one and enquiring after me. Whilst they were fully booked, they made sure we could extend our stay and in the same room. Their concern and help made our stay as pleasant as could be expected under the circumstances.
For a comfortable, friendly place to stay, this establishment fits the bill. Would definitely stay here again.

It was a nice small hotel away from the main streets. we liked the room and the service. It was hard to walk to through all these bridges, but then we found out about the water tram, which was great. The labyrinth of these streets is not easy to navigate, but we liked the quietness of the genuine Venice corners we could explore in the early hours.

Me and my girlfriend stayed there for 2 nights on our 10th year anniversary and i have to say i was pretty impressed. I paid in advance for the 2 nights at least 4 months, so it was really cheap. And can say that i got more than what i paid for. Hotel was confortable, clean, warm, the breakfast wasnt continental or anything, could say typical italian or european, but was really good and had a nice offer.
The only thing i think some people could not like would be the employees. They were nice but pretty straight forward and for me that was good enough. Some people might think of it like a lack of sympathy or something. I know there are always people who expect all kinds of sympathy when they are paying.
Dont want to over sell the place, but definitely surprised me and if i return to Venice or if i have to recommend a place to friends of mine, this would be it. Cheap regarding the city and the country and like i said, you get more than what you pay for.
