We stayed at the hotel centauro for 3 nights and it was a very enjoyable stay. The entrance was a little hard to find first of all but it is in a quiet location away from any noise. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, continental is just what you need and it is set in a spacious room with a nice view across the canal. The room was big enough for two, very clean and had Venetian decor, air con was also very quiet. It is a 5 minute walk from Rialto bridge, get off at that water stop to easily find the hotel, also very close to St. Mark's square. Overall had a fantastic stay in Venice and would recommend staying at this hotel.

The entrance was a little difficult to find initially but I love the location and inside is beautiful. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and was very kind to recommend the glass factory. I did not go but the rest of my party went and the Hotel got you there for free and getting in the glass factory was free entrance as well. Getting back is your responsibility but everyone seemed to enjoy this. There is no elevator and there is need to go up stairs with luggage, however this is normal for most Hotels in Italy. The rooms are very spacious and we were upgraded to a canal view (which I highly recommend booking) as there were times when we would sit in window and just watch the gondolas go by and listen to the singing and accordions. The rooms are beautifully decorated and so clean and well maintained. Breakfast is a standard layout of meat, cheese, fruit and boiled eggs, however what I liked was the eating room was very big and I did not feel I had to rush so someone else could sit down. Venice is very expensive and overall I think this was reasonably priced for the stay.

Room Tip: Pay extra to get a room facing the canal, it is worth it!

Very enjoyable stay in this hotel.
comfortable, clean accommodation and friendly, helpful staff. Situated within easy access to St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge but far enough away to be free of the crowds.
Will certainly use and recommend hotel again.

Hotel in a good position for all the 'must sees'. Feel that this is more of an excellent B & B rather than a hotel. Ours was a very small room, with high ceilings, overlooking a small courtyard and surrounding backs of buildings. The room was very clean and the bedding comfy. The bathroom was refurbished every day with fresh towels. The breakfast was basic continental, but plenty of fresh coffee and tea. The staff on reception were lovely as was the lady at breakfast. On the downside, there was no lounge area or bar area to relax after a day out. Venice is a wonderful place to visit, but just make sure you take plenty of euros with you!
We were warned by shopkeepers to make sure that your purchases are the genuine thing, as Chinese copies are rife, especially of Murano glass. Murano and Burano, were both beautiful islands and a must to add to your itinerary.

Arrived about 11pm and received a warm and friendly welcome from Angelo. Our room was quite small - enough space to move around the bed but not enough space for a chair for example. Decor was very Venetian which wasn't surprising since we were in Venice:) with fabric covered walls and chandelier. Comfy bed with nice linen and new towels daily (handy since the heated towel rails aren't turned on at this time of year).
Our room looked out onto the brick wall of the neighbouring building so rather dark room and had to hang to of the window and look up to check the sky to see what sort of day we had. No prob for us - we were up and out anyway but just know not all rooms have a view. They do have rooms that overlook the waterway which would be nice, with own balcony. Lovely old building and appreciated the Venice and it's old buildings and hotel are unique.
Breakfast room is a lovely airy space with tall ceiling and a narrow balcony from which you can watch the gondolas and other water traffic travel past...very picturesque...a highlight of the hotel. Breakfast fine - croissants, rolls, cheese, ham, cereals, yogurt, canned fruit, juices, and cold boiled eggs, tea and coffee.
Angelo and Alesandro particularly helpful and informative told us general info when asked, drew maps, told us where the local Venetians eat and hang out and about Venetian life in general - all good info. Also gave detailed info on how to get to the hotel.
Spent four nights here this time and would stay again...very central to all the touristy places Rialto, St Mark's Square and Accadamia.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony and view of the waterway!

2nd trip back to Venice booked a canal view this time as a larger room newly redecorated, as a back water canal limited view but gives more air and in the evening you get seronaded by the gondalas drifting past. 2nd floor no lifts so might be tricky if elderly, no evening meals just a very clean well staffed hotel wel lstocked fridge in room. But the best thing is this Hotel is down an alley where you would not expect to find just a short walk to the Rialto bridge and the Grand canal a short distance in the other direction finds you in St Marks Square you will not find a better 3*** Hotel in a quite area so close to where the action is people watching by the Grand canal .
a great time looking forward to the 3rd Visit.

Room Tip: canal rooms will have more air movement in the heat

Centauro Hotel is located in Daniel Maning Piazza - close to the Grand Cannal.
It's a small 3 stars hotel. Rooms are breakfast are OK. View from rooms is very nice.
It's quit an old hotel so there is no elevator there.
