Mr & Mrs Mason. We are not seasoned travellers this being our first holiday out of England. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Centauro from the 9th.to the14th. March 2014, We found all the hotel staff that we came into contact with welcoming, friendly, helpful, and genuinely very pleasant people. The breakfast room is large and airy and the breakfast was good. The room we had was on the top floor, so we did have a lot of stairs to climb as their is no lift or elevator, but the room was clean, well decorated and the room serviced each day. The hotel is really well placed for St. Mark's Sq. and The Rialto Bridge as well as many other places of interest, their are nice restaurants and shop's quite close and even though the hotel is very central it was very quiet at night so sleeping was no problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Centauro and cannot wait to visit again next year!

It would have been nice to have had a small kettle and some cups for making coffee in our room but that's not much of a problem really.
A lift would have been nice! but if you NEED a lift (if you have problems walking) Venice is probably not an idea holiday destination for you, as to get anywhere you will have to walk the water bus will only get you so far, then your on foot again.

My wife and I stayed at The Centauro from March 7th to 10th. The hotel is ideally placed for all of the key sights in Venice. It is a 5 minute walk from Rialto bridge and 12 minutes from St. Mark's Square. The hotel offer reasonably priced rooms with a style of decoration that harks back to the venetian palace. We found it easily enough. Travelling from the airport on the Orange Line Boat to Rialto on the Grand Canal cost us 27 euros each for a return ticket. From there we made our way to Campo Menin and the alleyway in which the hotel entrance lies is opposite the statue in the middle of the square. The staff were extremely helpful and our special thanks go to Allesandro who was great, offering advice on restaurants and where we could find an Internet café in the San Marco area. We would stay here again when we return to Venice.

Room Tip: Whilst some rooms have a canal view, they may also be most visited in the mosquito season. March was...

On February 2014 we arrived at Hotel Centauro at 5.55 PM and we urgent need a dentist. The staff of Hotel Centauro start to telephone and after ten minutes they found a dentist who was willing to wait for us after his practice hours and we could come immediately. Under escort from the lovely Elena we walked 15 minutes through the little dark streets of Venice and yes, the dentist fixed the problem in half an hour! Elena translated for us and waited the whole time and after that she shows us the way back to Hotel Centauro (Super!).
Hotel Centauro is a very nice hotel, our room (10) had damast wall paper. Breakfast had a choice for everyone and when you stand on the balcony of the breakfast-room, you hear the gondoliers singing when they pass through the canal under the balcony. We stayed 4 nights and were very happy with the service from the staff and also the service from the Lady from the Breakfast-room. The location is perfect, ten minutes easy walking from San Marco, Rialto and Academia and when you takes the private watertaxi from Marco Polo airport to the city they bring you direct to Campo Manin, 20 meters from Hotel Centauro. We have been many times in Venice and this hotel is in our opinion the best option near all the places of interest. We have already made a new reservation for august 2014.

Excellent first impression and reception staff members are very polite and helpful. The hotel has no elevator and we were on the third floor, but it was a good thing considering the enticing selection of fresh pastries for breakfast every morning! It might be a problem for some people though.

It's in an old town house and has all kind of period features if you like a place with some character - beams, mosaic tiles, wooden shutters etc.

The room was just the right size, it was warm and had a very reasonably priced mini bar, I would definitely give another star for sleep quality, unfortunately during our stay (Carnival time) there was a ridiculously loud music event happening every night at a nearby square and the walls were shaking with bass until about 1am, but it has nothing to do with the hotel and you can always check if anything is planned to happen there before you go.

Overall, an excellent experience and we would stay there again.

The hotel is in an ideal spot. Five minutes' walk from San Marco and Rialto. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The only thing stopping me giving an "excellent" rating was the lack of any kind of view from our room other than a wall a couple of feet away. I would definitely stay there again but would probably go for an upgraded room. Even so, it was fine for a few nights in Venice.

We loved our 3-day stay in this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to special requests. Hotel located within minutes of Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's square. Excellent location. Breakfast was great. The hotel itself a historic landmark but renovated and well maintained. Rooms are very comfortable, very clean, and nicely decorated. The view from our room was amazing. Excellent deal $ when location and room views are considered. Finding the entrance to hotel was a bit tricky, once you are in Campo Manin, the entrance to the hotel is through a very (really) narrow 'street'.

I recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our bathroom was very clean and bed was comfortable. The breakfast was so good! Great selection of food. They provide a map of venice at the front desk and all of the main attractions are within 5 min walking. It is very easy to get to by water bus from the train station. I will definitely stay there again, this was my favourite hotel from my trip.
