We came to Venice in early Jan 2012 & stayed 2 nights at the Malibran Hotel. Although the directions to the hotel were a little vague, we finally navigated our way from the Rialto Bridge water bus stop, around a few lanes & over a number of Venitian Bridges. Do not book a water taxi from Station or Airport, water bus is cheap & easy to understand.
The booking we had made over the Internet was mucked up and instead of a double, we ended up with 2 singles. Other than pushing them together we could not change & as we were only there 2 nights didn't bother swapping rooms.
The decor of this hotel is kind of old and cheesy in a Venetian way, but the rooms were clean, except there was something that had bitten me quite a bit in our room, but the bathroom was cleaned and the housekeeping lady was very sweet in her broken Indian/Italian!
Breakfast included with price was a great cold buffet, with crossaints, hams, cheese, yoghurts, fruit, hard boiled eggs, muesli, juice & coffee. We also ate our two evening meals here as they gave a 20% discount to hotel guests.
As a cheap location to stay it was good value, you just have to get over the cheesy decor! More
