Reviewed June 29, 2012

Please note that our trip was a last minute decision during the easter holiday, and most hotels were fully booked during the time we were visiting.

We booked the ''princess suite'' with my partner, as we are both tall people (I'm 6'0 and my partner 6'5) and wanted some space. We paid extra for the room (the one on the website photos with the blue duvet) to guarantee some comfort. The website photos are not reflective of the current state of the rooms.

There was barely enough space between the bed and walls for us to walk, as is visible in the photos I've posted. Upon seeing the room and feeling we'd been duped into taking a substandard room, we went down to the concierge to see if there were any other available rooms. They explained to us that we had the only double bed in the hotel and that all other beds were two singles pushed together. They gave us the keys to the ''honeymoon suite'' to see if that was better. Though it had more walking space, the bed was smaller and there was no bath or shower, just a shower hose on the wall next to the toilet. As we had booked a non refundable room, we were left with little options but to stay.

At least the location of the hotel is fantastic! It's located right off the corner of St. Marco's Square. This too, however, has a downfall... The bell tower rings every hour, on the hour, all hours of the day and night. Trying to sleep was fun. The soft mattress and itchy blanket didn't help. Neither did the fact that it was very cold while we were in Venice and there are no heating or cooling systems in the rooms.

The Comfort Hotel Diana is anything but comfortable. However, it is a clean hotel and the staff is extremely polite and helpful. Breakfast wasn't great, but the few things that they did serve were fresh and tasty. Also, there is free wifi throughout the hotel which was a plus.

I can't say I'd recommend this hotel for any other reason than the location. The overall quality for value was lacking.

fine hotel with a location very close the city yet not too noisy. the breakfast is not a buffet, you dont get a choice so you better like croissants and white bread with jam. the rooms are okay, not too big and bathrooms are tiny with no locks on. theres TV and internet, all though the internet is free, every 24 hours you have to go get a slip at the desk with a new login.. and only one computer at a time per login. ask the person for another one i you need It. theres also only 1 plug in the whole room apart from the fridge/tv plugs so be prepared! overall experiance was good and i recommend this

i was unaware of this but there is no air conditioning. which means that in order to get some circulation in the room, you have to open the windows. which isn't too bad but the street outside is rather noisy so its hard to get some rest. but the hotel is located very close to st. marks square. and the staff was always very polite and nice.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in July of 2011. Though situated just 3-5 mins walk to St. MArk's Square, we had difficulty finding the hotel. Maybe because we arrived in Venice around noon time and the square was already swarmed with people! It was insane! The hotel itself is average but location is great. Breakfast is continental and plain. Nothing fancy here. Wireless internet is free which is a big plus for me! Definitely recommendable!

Last October 2010, we stayed three nights at Hotel Diana (pre-cruise on the Venitian Passage Transatlantic to Ft. Lauderdale, FL). Hotel Diana was extremely accomodating with our room window, opening out over a courtyard. The European style windows were very dramatic and romantic with an occasional sound of bells ringing. We had such a lovely time at this charming hotel last year, and returned this past October to just say hello and thanked the gracious staff for a wounderful stay in 2010. All of the amendities of Hotel Diana were Excellent! The staff invited us back in 2012 for a longer stay. A few steps outside of this Hotel and you are in the exploring zone, so walk, get lost and enjoy Venice.

We took the water bus from the airport to San Marco. The hotel was just beyond the Piazza and shopkeepers were very helpful in helping us locate the street and the hotel. We took the Aliguna water bus to the Cruise ship dock and were let off right at our ship. We redeemed Choice points for our stay and it was off season so very reasonable. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast very adequate. The best part was it's great location. We could go in to rest and then right back out to walk the charming streets. And pick up pizza and sandwiches and pastries to eat on the streets. Loved Venice and would definitely stay at the Hotel Diana again.

Hotel is in a great location but difficult to find unless you follow directions very carefully. The rooms are small but perfectly adequate. The breakfast, while doesn't include eggs, fruit, meat/cheese etc. is good. It's FREE and includes croissants, yoghurt, etc. The breakfast doesn't start until 7:30 a.m. but they do have coffee etc., at the front desk. Important for early risers! My only complaint about this hotel is that the pillows are SO hard, it's like sleeping on a rock!

How to get there: Take the vaporetto to the San Marco square stop. DO NOT TAKE A TAXI BOAT. They wanted 60 euro, whereas the vaporetto was 6.50 euro each. When you get off, walk to the right until you get to the main entrance/exit on the left. You will see a clock tower which uses roman numerals. Go through the archway of the tower, make your first right and take the second left. You will see a Best Western sign hanging on the right. The hotel does not have a sign hanging so you can't see it, but it's right before the Best Western, also on the right. Total travel from the archway to hotel is only about 150-200 yards.
