We stayed here for 4 nights first week of October '12. It was just in from our vaporetto stop San Zaccaria and only two bridges to St mark's Square...the latter being the Bridge of Sighs. Be aware that there is one walk bridge to go over before you turn into the very narrow Calle. Our twin bedroom was at the back ( asked for that, so not any noise). It was not a large room and a bit dated but suited Venice...the room was tidied everyday and fresh linen provided. The breakfast was included but basically a continental and there is only a lounge suite in the door opposite reception and a small dining area off it.... But as we were out more than in, this really suited our needs and it was good to know we had informative staff on duty 24/7. Being two women, we had no problems walking around the area at night and the street outside had plenty of shops, a few restaurants and cafes on the inland corners. Further up and to the right there is a pharmacy. We were given a pleasant first night restaurant information which was booked thru the reception and we appreciated that.
I found it homely in the sense that we weren't in a overly large hotel and everyone was friendly and helpful.More
