A perfect location, just round the corner from St Mark's Square. Our room was on the second level, and was small but ok, but the bathroom was probably the smallest I have ever seen! A decent sized shower tray took up half of the space - the washbasin overhung the wc, and you had to bend into very unfamiliar shapes to make use of the facilities!
Having said that, it was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a fairly ordinary continental selection.
There is no lift, and the stairs are very steep!

Hotel Orion is an excellent place to stay simply for the price/location. It is in amongst the little lanes very close to Piazza San Marco. As there were three of us, needing two rooms, we were given the apartment just a couple of doors up from the main hotel. The rooms were a little shabby but the decor in keeping with Venice, Italy. The wifi didn't work in the apartment so had to use our computers in the breakfast room.
Staff was friendly enough. Breakfast was continental, a little too sweet with no fruit available.
Would stay again as it is a great price for the location.

We stayed at this hotel in January as part of a British Airways holiday. We thought the price was too good to be true and that there would be some catch but no....the position of the hotel is amazing, a view of the basilica from our bathroom and the most delightful square below our bedroom window. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast simple, but great to keep you going all day, eaten in a lovely little room with a window table that again has views of the basilica. Our bedroom was comfortable, quiet and clean. A perfect place to explore the city.

Went to this hotel as part of a package with British Airways, it was listed as a BA Recommended Hotel. Really a nice place, clean throughout, helpful friendly staff whose English was certainly better than my Italian. Room very nice, we too had a slight problem with our shower but after we reported it in the morning we returned later in the day to find a completely new shower head had been fitted - I think you'd struggle to get that kind of service in a 4 star hotel so we were very impressed. Location excellent, get off the water bus at San Marco and it's definitely no more than about 7 minutes walk. Breakfast served 8am-10am, typical continental - rolls, ham, cheese, jam, cereal, juice and lovely coffee, all very nice and served with a smile. We would definitely return and would recommend.

Room Tip: We had room 24 (double bed), only problem was that it connects with the breakfast room so there is a...

Having just returned from Venice I 're read some previous reviews and am quite surprised at how negative some are. The location of this hotel is amazing we were welcomed with enthusiasm there was no question of us being separated from our passports which worried me slightly in a previous review. We were offered a choice of rooms with either twin beds or double and were quickly shown to our room. Very clean and nicely furnished. On our first morning we were at breakfast at 8 as having read that the breakfast room got busy only to find ourselves alone save for a very attentive waitress. You can have any number of different coffees juice yoghurt cornflakes ham cheese rolls and jam and also a filled croissant very acceptable. Our room was serviced everyday with fresh towels plenty of soap shampoo loo rolls etc. On our last day our flight was early evening and we were able to leave our luggage and use the loo all day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for its great service and location. Only one downside no lift so if you struggle with stairs maybe not for you. We loved it and would stay again.

ust round the corner from St Mark's Square. It is a lovely hotel and surprisingly good value given the location which is just round the corner from St Mark's Square. The staff were helpful and welcoming. We had a problem with getting the shower to work but it was sorted out very quickly with no fuss. The breakfast is good for the priice. The room was small but contained everything we needed. My two very small criticisms are:
The shower is in a half-sized bath which has a raised end to sit on. This means that the area to stand in is very small and I felt rather precarious. It is also rather deep so diffifucult to get in and out of.
There is a notice in the room to say that you must only eat and drink stuff from the minbar which I found a bit high-handed. I would happily broken this rule because but actually the minbar proces weren't bad value.
Overall, it's a great place to stay in a wonderful city.

Room Tip: All the rooms are upstairs. I asked for one without too many stairs and got one on the first floor.

This hotel was small but situated in a great spot just a short walk from San Marco square.
Clean but quite small very small bathroom only room for one person at a time, bath was a bit of a danger zone had to be very careful . Location was however great the owner was helpful and courteous no lift stairs of course which is quite normal in these little hotels

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking square as I think they may be bigger
