We've just returned from a 2 night stay at the Orion Hotel in Venice. I was iniatially concerned having read reviews on here about how difficult it would be to find. The one tip I would pass on is "print the map" that is on the hotels own website - it is clearly marked and is then really easy to find.
The rooms look bigger on the internet but they do an adequate job (room was probably 12ft.10ft) - view was good - not great but then hotel is on a side street.
Breakfast was continental as expected - was lovely
The best thing this hotel has going for it is the best location ever !! 2mins from San Marco square, 5mins from Rialto Bridge, 3 mins from Bridge of sighs.
Great experience of venice - thank you.
We also asked for advice on how to get to Murano and other islands and the reception desk were extremely helpful and knowledgeable

Room Tip: visit the hotels own website and print the map !!

The location is awesome and the room is ok. The low rating I gave is because the staff ruin it, the wifi is touch and go even though they charge €5 an hour for it and breakfast is limited and an uncomfortable experience.

There was only one staff member that was not rude to us in the time we we're there. One reception desk staff told us off for trying to take food up to our room to eat in aircon as it is their policy that only food and drink purchased from them is allowed in the room. This was not made known to us until this member of staff threw a flyer at us with the rules of the hotel on them which we were supposed to get at check in.

One morning the cleaner opened our door without warning while we were getting dressed until I said excuse me then she fumbled with closing the door and ended up leaving it open.

Breakfast is just uncomfortable. There were up to three staff working the small room and rushing around yelling at each other. The first morning we were told (not asked) to sit down to receive our allowance of 1 croissant each. Then we were free to choose some other food. It felt like we were an annoyance taking up their time. There is an older man that kept poking his head in at reception and the breakfast room and I guess he is the owner, this guy made me feel like I was unwelcome.

The bathroom is small but the room itself is big enough for two people with suitcases. If you don't have to interact with anyone, this would be a good choice.

Like I said, the two points are for the room and the location. Can't give it any more than that.

Stay here! Quiet little hotel right in the heart of Venice. Cool and calm rooms, great free breakfast. Definately worth it!!
The staff are very helpful any time you have a problem. The only complaint would be the wifi which costs too much. Overall amazing
Little hotel in the heart of Venice. And so quiet because of double glazing.

Tucled away about 100 metres from St Marks square is this little gem. We arrived at 1am due to flight delay but the concierge was waiting and so helpfull. The room was clean opening onto a busy street but no noise with the window shut. Breakfast was cereal, pastry, choice of drinks and refills served by two lovely ladies. The breakfast room overlooked a small piazza and a street. Many restaurants nearby and a gelateria selling €1.50 ice creams! Air con, safe (€5 deposit), tv, booking service.
Even a secluded back yard for the smokers.

The best thing about the hotel Orion was its great location. It was right next to San Marco which therefore meant a fastpass to some of the main attractions. The hotel was also good for its price, especially since it's impossible to find a good hotel in Venice without being terribly expensive. The rooms were basic and the service was fine. However there were ants. There were many on the floor but they seemed to have cleaned them up a bit by the second day. There was also a weird smell when we entered the room every time but would get used to it in a couple of minutes. The breakfast area was also very cute. All around was very basic and a great location.

Spent 4 nights at this hotel. Location couldn't be more perfect. Less than 5 minutes from San Marco & the vaporetto stops - local & airport. We could go out & explore and come back for a breather. Although there was no lift our cases were taken to & from our room. The room was lovely overlooking the cartier corner. there was no bar in the hotel, but the minbar in the room has a good selection of drinks & prices were on a par with the shops below. Breakfast was continental, and you could have as much as you wanted. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Given the location, the price we paid was an absolute steal. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone going to Venice
