After our cruise we wanted to remain in Venice for an extra night of sightseeing without the daytime crowds - so we opted to look for a hotel within Venice itself so we didn't have to commute in from Mestre / the mainland. Hotel Paganelli fit the bill and its location was just awesome - literally steps from St Mark's square and also facing the S.Zaccaria water taxi station directly. So from the cruise terminal you just take the Alilaguna water taxi to the Zaccaria stop, while to get from the hotel to the airport, you can simply take the Alilaguna Linea Blu and get there by boat directly in an hour or so. The hotel itself consists of several wings - we were lucky to get to try 3 rooms the newly built side and they were fabulous - one of them (I think it was the honeymoon suite) had a killer view of the main street / waterway, the other had a private roof terrance, while the third had a quint inner-street rooftop view. All rooms were extremely clean, modern and well-furnished and we really had no complaints. In conclusion - great location, great convenience, and worth the price if you want to get a true taste of Venice after the tourists leave in the evening.

Stayed at this hotel last week. No problems finding this hotel just 30 second walk from San Zaccharia Alilaguna water bus stop. There are two parts to this hotel, the reception is in the building on the front and we stayed in the annex just around the corner. Reception very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Our room was on the second floor in the annex and there was a lift to use but it is extremely small and we preferred the stairs. The stairs and landings are a little tired in this building, our room was small as expected, but clean and quite modern and it did have a safe and a fridge. I feel there was some unnecessary furniture in the room which if removed would give more space but a minor detail. The breakfast however was a disappointment. It was the typical continental meats and cheese which unfortunately I find hard to stomach in the morning but there was not a lot else. Small amount of cereal and yogurt, bread roll and croissant and pitiful selection of cake. The only hot offering was scrambled egg but no ability to make any toast. Also this is the only hotel I have ever stayed in that does not have the staff serve you with a hot drink at the breakfast table. If you wanted tea you had to serve yourself which led to a lot of people congregating around a small area to get drinks and food. The breakfast room later on in the day was part of the hotel's bar, which possibly explained its well used look. After checking out on our last day the hotel did have a facility to keep hold of your cases till you leave which is a great help.

Location, location, location. The hotel is directly across from the water taxi that brings you from the airport. It is walking distance from everything. Rooms were clean and well taken care of, not a huge room, but big for European standards and bigger then many rooms we have stayed in in Europe. We actually had a view of the entrance to the Grand Canal. I had no problems or issues with anything about this hotel. The breakfast served was out of the hotel and around the corner, not really an inconvenience at all just a very short walk. Had an excellent stay, really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it, and would stay here again in a second if we ever return.

First the location- very well located at the SanZaccharia vaporetto stop right outside the hotel. Very close to St Marc's square and all the main sights.
Rooms- we were on the top floor and our room was surprisingly spacious and modern. The receptionist said this is the new part of the hotel.
Breakfast- fine for us selection of Continental foods
If I was ever in Venice again I'd stay here and recommend to friends

We stayed here for 2 nights as the first stop during our 2 week honeymoon in Italy. This hotel is very centrally located (steps away from St. Mark's and also right on the lagoon). Being on the lagoon makes it very easily accessible via public transportation or water taxi (we quickly learned how important this was when carrying large suitcases coming from or to the airport). This also means the area right in front of the hotel is very crowded and touristy, but despite this we did not find the noise to be an issue. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable. In our opinion it was worth a little extra for the lagoon view room as our view was amazing! Take advantage of the rooftop terrace - you can get food/drink service on the terrace for a small extra fee from the hotel's restaurant.
