Lovely small hotel in Venice, classic old Venetian decor , good location, friendly and helpful staff, room choice key, rooms differ greatly becomes located in old Venetian palazzo. Excellent views on the Grand Canal, different views from different rooms. Will stay there when in Venice, highly reccomand.

The Hotel Galleria is a great, reasonably priced hotel located on the Grand Canal just steps from the Accademia bridge. This is what you need to know: 1). Make sure you request the morning croissants and black coffee. They are a delicious way to greet the day. 2). If you share the guest bath, don't fret. It's nice and clean. 3.) Be sure to lean out of the hotel to view the Grand Canal, Accademia bridge, and the Santa Maria della Salute. 4.) The beds are comfortable, as are the rooms. Very clean and tidy. 5.) There are a number of reasonably priced restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk. We visited in May 2008, June 2013, and will stay at the Hotel Galleria on our next visit.

This is a lovely hotel! My friend and I stayed in room #4. The room was small but we didn't come to Venice to spend the majority of our time in the room anyways. We had to share a bathroom which at first seemed strange but it actually was never an issue. There was a sink in the bedroom so that was enough to get ready in the mornings and at night. The shared bathroom has the toilet and shower. The hotel's location was key in making our stay a success. We often got lost and when we asked for directions it was easy to ask for il ponte della academia. The stop for the Vaporetto is literally a 2 minute walk from the Hotel and you can easily walk to the San Marco Piazza or venture out to other areas. All of the staff was extremely accommodating and nice. The breakfast in bed was delightful and delicious, even if you don't eat all of it at least you'll get some really good coffee, and orange juice. The whole place was extremely clean and felt extremely safe.
When I return to Venice I will definitely stay in this hotel again! It was just meraviglioso!
P.S...I'm writing this review from the Hotel's lobby as I wait to catch the Vaporetto.

We stayed in room Nr 8. The location of this hotel is wonderful with Nr. 1 and 2 waterbus stops here. The Academy bridge is 5 meters away. You can walk to the St. Marc square or just take the waterbus there. It was convinient for us walking along the routes to the east and west.Since it was fairly warm when we were there, we came back and took shower when we were tired during the day. The staff in the reception was very helpful. Give us lots of information . The hotel provides free Wifi and also free drinks / beverage . It was very important in August.
A little sugguestion , in August airconditions is much better than fans, since it was so humid when we were there.
Definately we will be back next time in Venice.

This hotel is set in a great location and has some lovely rooms. But if you do not get the right one, you may be unsatisfied. Our original room was over the Grand Canal and was billed as "small"...but I simply was not prepared to be in a room --no exaggeration--that was as wide as the span of my open arms by an inch. Luckily, Stefano, the kind and accommodating proprietor, switched our room after we communicated that we were unhappy. The new room (#2) was lovely and we enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean, comfortable and roomy. Breakfast (coffee, yogurt, and bread) is brought to the room according to your time preference. The Academy bridge is right out the front door of the hotel--an area that is both beautiful and slightly less populated by herding tourists. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as it provided a nice central home base while we explored Venice.

Room Tip: Steer clear of room #9 unless you are a single traveler. Not only is it unbearably small, the floor...

Booked the Galleria based on Tripadvisor reviews.

I was looking for and "old world" experience for my grandson and this hotel was the "hidden gem" of our European trip this year. The Galleria sits immediately next to the Accademia bridge on the Grand Canal. Very convenient to a multitude of cafes and transportation. The Guggenheim Collection is only a 5 minute walk away.

My grandson and I stayed in room #10 "beautiful big room with private bathroom, full view on the Grand Canal" and that was an understatement. The room was huge and had beautiful views of the Grand Canal. My wife was keeping up with my grandson and me via Facetime (free wifi available) and was jealous of the live views of the room as well as those of the Grand Canal. There is no air conditioning, but even during the heat wave that Europe was experiencing, the room was kept comfortable with closed shutters (but open windows) during the day and open windows at night. Vaporetto noises during the day are just part of the experience and go away at night (the stop is at the foot of the Accademia bridge).

Luciano (one of the owners) was cordial and extremely helpful. I found it interesting to walk into a conversation he was having with another guest and quickly determined that he was talking to a guest who has been a "regular", returning annually for quite a number of years. Good indication of a recurring good experience.

There is no doubt that I would rebook at the Galleria on my next Venice trip.

Room Tip: Corner room was large, beautiful and had great views.

This hotel was a huge disappointment and not at all as some reviews suggested. The room was musty and tony, with a bathroom cheaply done' and the size of a broom closet. There was no air conditioning, which for 200 euros a night would seem normal. We cold not leave windows open for the noise on the Academia bridge. Not one member of the staff could assisrt in directions we required. Not one member of staff attempted to build a relationship with us. Breakfast was served in our room because there was nowhere else to serve it. Floors were frighteningly warped in hallways. We travel a lot. I write a lot of reviews. This place is a stay-swsy.
