“Brilliant location, very charming”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

This hotel was an excellent choice for us for the following reasons:
1. Incredibly easy to find given that its Venice and there are waterways and winding alleys - you have to take the public bus (vaporetto) from the train station and when you reach the Accademia stop, it is less a minute away. We came to Venice by train and left by plane. To head to the airport, there is the expensive water taxi option that costs EUR100-120 but the trip is 30 mins and there is the inexpensive Lalaguna public water bus that costs EUR15 but it takes 1.5 hours. The Lalaguna stop is on the other side of the hotel and is very convenient, took less than 8 mins with heavy bags and backpacks.
2. Very charming - We had never stayed in a hotel other than an unbranded or hotel chain before and hence were a little apprehensive but the rooms are lovely. I love the furniture and the room is spacious. We kept our luggage under the bed and it was absolutely fine. Our room overlooked the Accademia bridge and it was lovely to open the windows in the morning. The bathroom is a bit small but that was fine too. There is no air-conditioning but you do not need it. There is a fan and it was more than adequate, the nights (late July) were very cool.
3. Both Luciano and Stefano are very helpful. They recommended some nice restaurants for dinner and also gave us some tips to get to Murano and Burano.
Some minor points to be noted:
1. Shared bathroom - Some rooms tend to have a shared bathroom so double check when you reserve. We reserved a room with a private bathroom and got room #1 but I believe that some of the other rooms have a view of the Grand Canal.
2. Breakfast is light - croissants, yoghurt, butter, jams... we were used to a slightly heavier breakfast because we tend to spend the entire day outside and return only late at night. However, we did not feel hungry because the weather was gorgeous and the days were not as tiring as Rome.
3. Stairs - We had to carry our luggage up a winding flight of stairs as there is no elevator and there was no one to help when we arrived but we were kindly helped on the way out. Not a major issue at all.
I would definitely consider returning to this hotel. It made my experience in Venice quite memorable.

This hotel had more charm than I have seen before. The staff are lovely. We had a lovely corner room, with a shared bathroom- which was no problem at all. The view of the Grand Canal was a delight and our favorite part of Venice was savoring our breakfast on the silver platter, while watching the Grand Canal come to life. I would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at the hotel during our trip through Italy last September. Although the rooms are small (what do you expect for Venice), the location is excellent, right off of the Accademia stop. If you are looking for a well run hotel at a reasonable price with a good location, this is it.

I really wanted to like this hotel, and Luciano was very nice. But . . .our room (#2) was super small (much too much so for 3 people), and it was nothing like the photos on line. There was a large corner of the room occupied/boxed in perhaps for the doorway of the restaurant below, further cramping the room. Things were left in the drawers by prior guests. The room could be viewed into by folks walking on the street, and it was too hot to close the windows, so we were sort of stuck. Really noisy. Maybe the rooms facing the Grand Canal are nice.

dear madam,
as we said many times, this is a small hotel and about the size of the rooms we can't help.
Most of the small hotels in Venice and historical italian cities have been made by apartments or parts of palaces long time ago when people needs were different.

We have a tiny place in a great location where we do our best to keep it clean and a pleasant home for our guests.
To see a smile on their faces make our day.

In your case, we were very sorry for you not being happy and explained that the box in the room is part of a 17th century door arch, so your "perhaps" is not fair.
As it's not fair to say that "things were left in the drawers by prior guests", because we told you that these things were the mosquitos repellent tablets that we provide for our guests and leave inside the drawer.
It's not fair because you told us they were condoms left by somebody else and we eplained you that they were not.

Said that we apologized for your disappointment and made a discount to see you happier, probably this didn't work.

We had four wonderful nights at the Galleria. The great location was perfect for exploring beautiful Venice by day and by night we had an amazing array of restaurants to choose from within a short distance of the hotel. Our ensuite room (no. 8) was right on the Grand Canal; it had a gorgeous crescent window and elevated sitting area, where we enjoyed our breakfast each morning (it is delivered to your room) watching gondalos glide by as well as many other boats of all descriptions transverse the canal, as the locals make their way to work. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with tips on various aspects of life in Venice and things to do and see. Owners Luciano and Stefano can be very proud of their beautiful traditional boutique hotel in its stunning setting on the Grand Canal beside the Accademia bridge. It is very easy to get to from the rail station, you just need to follow the instructions; get on a water taxi at the station and off at Accademia bridge - too easy! We highly recommend Hotel Galleria as we were very sad to leave and can only hope to return one day.

Room Tip: Being right on the canal is fantastic, remember to close your window at night.

The location of this hotel is great, next to Academia bridge and the Academia vaporetto stop. No long distances to cart cases, and no bridges to cross with heavy loads to get there! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast, served to the room on a silver tray was great. We were in room 3, which is on the side, so not a full canal view. It overlooks the bar/restaurant, but this closed by 11.30, so wasn't a problem. There's no aircon, just a ceiling fan in the room, which was efficient enough to keep us happy. They also provide a fridge with free bottled water in the hall, which was a great added extra in the heat. We also had a shared bathroom, but only had to wait for it once. The place is very clean (my wife dropped an earring under the bedside cabinet, and put her hand under with trepidation, but it was spotless!). Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room 10 seems to be the showpiece room, with view over the grand canal and en suite. Rooms 1 and 2 a...

My husband and I stayed here only for two nights during our delayed honeymoon. I wish we had more time! We really enjoyed this hotel, even though we certainly had the smallest room in the hotel, muchless that I have ever been in my life! But that didn't really bother me actually. The view and the location more than made up for it. We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was lovely and we loved the breakfast delieved to our room each day. The location can't be beat. Would definately stay again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: Book a (larger) room with view of Grand Canal.
