“A Lovely Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2011

This was our first trip to Venice, and we found Hotel Galleria in one of the guidebooks. What a lovely find! Because of our schedule, we had to change rooms, so we got a chance to see two. The first, room 9, was...a little small, barely wider than the bed. But it had a new (if small) private bathroom, a ceiling fan which made all the difference, and a wonderful view right on the Canal. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, and the furnishings charming. The second room, room 2, was not on the canal, but was much bigger, equally clean and comfortable. We were offered breakfast served in our room each day, but because we had no itinerary, we declined, simply because we didn't even want to plan 12 hours in advance! Thus I cannot comment on the breakfast, beyond its offer. The location of the hotel was absolutely excellent, the staff helpful and friendly, and the overall experince wonderful. A special shout-out to Stefano, who was so adorable. We'd definitely go back, even for a really, really small room!

Great view of the grand canal from both room 6 (large corner room with 2 window view of canal and accademia bridge, shared bath) and room 9 (smaller, one window but own bathroom). Enjoyed being away from the crowds but close vaporetto stop or walk into the heart of it all. Enjoyed the breakfasts in bed with AMAZING fresh croissants, free drinks (sodas and water) that guests could take when they left for the day. Only complaint was that there was no internet available (though the owners did allow me to use their internet at the front desk for a few mintues a day). Overall a nice place to stay in Venice.

Room Tip: rm 6 for biggest n best views but shared bath.

I have stayed a number of times now. Location by Accedamia bridge is perfect. Staff are exceptionally helpful - for instance I was welcome to use their PC to check-in for my return flight. Cold drinks are provided free of charge, a nice touch. Single room (#6) is small however the view is amazing and the antique decor at the Galleria is lovely. Really, for €90 a night over a UK Bank Holiday Weekend this is good value for such a stunning location. An absolute winner!

Room Tip: Single room #6 is small but perfectly adequate

Hotel Galleria was wonderful. It was in a great location within walking distance to all of the sites of Venice. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a room with a private bathroom which was nice. Breakfast was served in your room so it was great to enjoy with my husband overlooking the Academia bridge. The rooms are smaller and it is an older building but well worth the price paid and excellent location. We LOVED Venice!

I regret staying at this place. This is a very old building disguised of a charming hotel. But it is not. The floor is very old so every one can hear loud footsteps. Besides, you cannot have intimacy or privacy with your couple because the walls are very thin. The breakfast is small and they serve it in the room. 100 steps away there was another hotel with the same prices but it has a buffet breakfast and private bathroom. I paid the same price ($100 euros) and I did not get a private bathroom. I got a "view" to the channel, which was not good at all. The person at the counter was absolutely rude to me. He was so rude that I decided to leave the hotel before my check out date. If you want to know details, contact me please.

We may mistake and surely must always improve and are grateful to our clients for telling us what works and what doesn't.
As we said already we don't like anonymous writers, specially when they make such reviews (we know their names though).

We don't need to replay to the above words about our hotel and staff from this lady who was probably not in the right place and mood and who is for sure not welcomed in our hotel.
It's hard for us to say these words but luckily facts like this happened only twice in almost 20 years.

This was our second stay at Hotel Galleria and we were not sorry that we went back. The hotel is perfectly located at the foot of the Accademia Bridge. It is in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants and lots to see. The water taxi stops here as well. It is a small hotel and does not have a breakfast room, but breakfast comes on a silver tray to your room each morning. Stefano and Luciano are very helpful - as well as their staff. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This hotel was recommended by friends and it was just perfect for our first trip to Venice. Luciano and Stefano, as well as the rest of the staff, were warm and helpful from setting up the reservation to assisting us with museum tours, restaurants, advice and directions. Located at the foot of the Accademia Bridge, it is perfect for learning and seeing the city. The hotel is pretty, and has a very personal feel to it. Having breakfast in our room, while looking out at the early morning light on the canal...what can I say...it was like a dream. We had a shared bath, and our room and the bath were spotless. There is no lift but only one flight of stairs. Not a problem, but you should just be prepared. The rooms are small, but who cares! You are in Venice and you should be out wandering around! Because it is just by the bridge and a vaporetto stop it is very convenient for getting around, but just know that you will notice some street noise. But Venice is not a real late-night city, so you won't find it bothersome. We loved it here, and would stay here again.

Room Tip: book early!
