We spent five nights at the Hotel Flora and had a throroughly wonderful time.

First, the location. It could not be better. It is just a few minutes' walk from St Mark's Square (and vaporetto stops) which is crowded with tourists, but just a few minutes in the other direction you can find youself in atmospheric back streets with very few other people about. As well as St Mark's there are plenty of other sights in easy strolling distance including the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio and the Ponte dell'Accademia. Above all, if you are going to a performance at La Fenice opera house during your stay as we did, the Hotel Flora is just a couple of minutes' walk away.

The hotel is just off the busy Calle Larga XXII Marzo with its international designer shops, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The little garden where we had breakfast on our first morning was calm and tranquil (after our first day the weather became cooler so we ate inside). Breakfast itself was a very fine buffet. The hotel gives the impression of a slightly old-fashined charm, but everything works well and it is run efficiently.

Our room was splendid. It had a high ceiling and felt spacious The bed was large and comfortable if a little firmer than we like. There was a wonderfully creaky old wooden wardrobe with plenty of space for our clothes, as well as bedside cabinets and a little table. The lighting was good. There was no problem with reading at night. The shutters and curtains excluded all light from outside. The bathroom was good. The shower screen at first looked flimsy but was not. Not a drop of water got out onto the bathroom floor. Plenty of towels were provided.

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. They were glad to give recommendations for restaurants (and to ring them up to make reservations) and to explain the best ways to get to certain places in the city. It felt that all the staff were proud of their hotel and made guests feel appreciated and welcome.

It was one of the most enjoyable hotels we have ever stayed in. If we return to Venice we will certainly aim to say at Hotel Flora again.

Hotel Flora has a perfect location. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The courtyard is relaxing and charming. Breakfast was delicious and is a typical European breakfast. The room was comfortable, however, the bathrooms are small.

The Flora Hotel is one of the most amazing hotels I know in Italy. The best service mindset ever, a great garden for leisure and breakfast, a perfect breakfast presented by real artists (incl. their self.made cakes) and perfect bar keepers for the drink in the evening. The hotel is only some steps away from the Piazza San Marco, but in a quiet place, a real oasis in the very busy center of Venice.

Room tip: Room 23 is a real dream

The room we stayed in was very impressive. As soon as we walked, we both said "Wow". It was clean, large and had beautiful furnishings. The bed was very comfortable and had wonderful linens. The only items they didn't have in the room were a magnifying makeup (for those of us who wear glasses) and an iron. I asked the front desk for those items but unfortunately they couldn't locate a magnifying mirror and they don't allow irons in the room because of a possible fire hazard. But it was hot and humid so the wrinkles did eventually fall out of our clothes.
This is a beautiful property in a great location. We would definitely stay there again but would bring a small magnifying mirror and a travel iron / clothes steamer.

This is my first visit to Venice(Italy), am greatly impressed and awed with the Churches and museum with its magnificent and architectural design. Venice, city of romance, gondolas, canals, amazing restaurants, unforgettable and romantic ambience. So much to see, so much to do. This is also supplemented by fashionable designer outlets. Endless shopping opportunities. Great place for film location - The Tourist, Casino Royale, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were filmed there. Enjoyed the panoramic view from the Rialto Bridge, with boats and gondolas ferrying passengers down the busy canals. This place is full of activities. A real feast for the eyes....

Room tip: Nice view from the balcony
