This small hotel has a welcoming staff, serves an excellent breakfast, and couldn't be better located for the person who wants a retreat from the hubhub of St. Mark's square and all the shoppers, etc. nearby. It's sort of like being in Hogwarts--the way one vanishes into the Room of Requirement--the place that's needed. I suggest taking an airport shuttle (or water taxi) via boat rather than the bus--shorter trip to the hotel from the San Marco stop than taking the bus from the airport and going mostly via foot. Internet is not free and should be.

My wife and I had decided to get married in Venice and when looking for accommodation for the wedding party we came across the Hotel Flora. From the moment we enquired about availability to the when we arrived and then departed, everything and everyone was handled perfectly and with a smile.

The entrance to the hotel is tucked away down a narrow path and enchanting when you walk in. The courtyard is wonderful to relax in and have your breakfast or a late afternoon G&T in.

The rooms are not the biggest, size to be expected in Venice, but they are decorated and furnished brilliantly with a window overlooking the wonderfully green courtyard and completely in the Venetian style.

We did not spend to much time in the room as we were sorting out the wedding and then meeting family and friends but we were looked after brilliantly. The breakfast experience is wonderful way to start the morning and the hotel recommended great restaurants for lunch and dinner.

A complimentary bottle of champagne the night before the wedding, an easy change of rooms on the day of the wedding along with the waiters guaranteeing that the rain would stop before the ceremony (which it did thankfully) made it a stay to remember and thoroughly enjoyed.

Definitely a recommended if your are going to Venice.

From the moment we turned into the narrow opening between buildings on a main street and first saw the Hotel Flora we were in love with this hotel. It only got better from that moment 'til we had to say goodbye. The hotel is located an easy five minute walk from San Marco Square and the same from the Grand Canal where water transportation to just about anywhere is located. For those who worry about getting to the airport, a ten minute walk to water transportation that takes you right to the airport for 17 Eur or a direct boat for 25 Eur. Quick, easy and reasonable.
The hotel's rooms are clean with all modern amenities. The common areas, like the tiny, two-stool bar, the lounge and separate dining rooms are quaint beyond telling where my wife and friend would sit over tea before calling it a day. For me and my wife's friend's husband, it was always outside in the hotel's incredibly beautiful courtyard over a glass of very good local wine. While we all fell in love with Venice, the courtyard of the Hotel Flora was my favourite place to relax and unwind.
I can't say enough about the staff at this hotel. Friendly and warm with always a ready smile. The service level was some of the best I've ever experienced and all of the staff were helpful and informative. Without being intrusive, they were always there when needed and seemed to anticipate our every need.
For all four of us, it was a sad morning when we had to leave for our trip home and we can't wait to return for there's not another hotel in all of Venice we'd stay at other than the Hotel Flora.

The Flora has much going for it. It is a short walk to San Marco Square, very convenient to shopping, the Grand Canal, and numerous great restaurants. It has an excellent full breakfast, and a very charming garden courtyard, where we enjoyed drinks from the bar. The front desk staff were very helpful in recommending some very good restaurants, and the bar tender has a photographic memory for drink orders. The room was clean. BUT, beware of room size. We asked for the largest room available and got one with barely enough room for a queen-size bed, armoire, chair, and tiny table for tiny TV. The shower in the bathroom was so small that the door popped open if you bent over. You couldn't open the armoire doors all the way since the bed was in the way. It took some advance logistic planning for two of us to maneuver around at the same time.

That said, we weren't in Venice to spend a lot of time in the room. It was clean and comfortable, very conveniently located, very charming, and not overly pricey for its location. So, with the warning to make sure you don't get one of the closet rooms, this is a keeper, and we would definitely return another time.

I was travelling in Italy with my two daughters to see family and see many of the beautiful things Italy had to offer. We arrived at the Hotel Flora and fell in love. The staff were tremendous and helped us with any questions. We loved our room which was very spacious and had a beautiful Murano chandelier. The bathroom was wonderful as well. We loved breakfast in the morning and made great friends with the waiter there Stefano Bonn. I would go back there again and stay longer. The hot chocolate in the morning is a must. The beautiful garden area is just magical. It is lovely to sit there in the late afternoon and have a campari & soda. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone I know.

.. but they do try. The staff is accommodating. The a.m. waiter and busboy outstanding. Evening bartender a delight. The rooms are teeny and although bed linens and towels were clean, the carpet could have used a good steaming. Our stay might have been better if the families w/teenage children staying here asked them to stop stampeding in the halls and knocking furniture over after midnight. Ah well, you get what you pay for. Next time in Venice, I'll stay somewhere else w/an equally good location.

We just came back from our new years eve trip to venice staying 3 nights at the flora.

There have to be very nice rooms in the hotel but we definitely did not get one although we booked two month in advance. The room was tiny and had no correspondence with the pictures available on the web. Only the bed was (maybe) antique but e.g. the cupboard was pretty ugly.

The bathroom was tiny but very clean and is probably acceptable for such an old house. Furthermore the walls were thin such that one would wake up early. For 260 euro per night the room was very disappointing which we were complaining about at the reception without effect.

The breakfast was good and the breakfast service very charming.

If you go there make sure that you get what is advertised on the net because the staff at the reception desk will not care about your complaints.
