The hotel exceeded even our high expectations. We went to Venice as a surprise romantic trip and the Bucintoro was a perfect venue. We stayed in room 101 which was very spacious, excellently decorated and had a view of the Grand Canal and Venice waterfront which would be hard to beat. The room was surprisingly light, given the dark wood panel decor, and the bathroom was well appointed and kept to a high standard.
The staff were all very friendly, polite and attentive - seemingly not taking offence at our very limited attempt at any Italian whilst there - and happily helped us with arranging a restaurant reservation.
Location wise the Bucintoro suited us perfectly. It's very close to central Venice, around St Mark's Square, but far enough out to avoid crowds right outside your window. This does mean that it is a fair walk away from the other side of Venice, if you want to go anywhere past the Rialto bridge on foot, but we didn't find that off putting at all. The public transport boats stopped very close by.
I'd find it hard to fault the hotel much at all. The bed was quite firm which left us both with a stiff neck on a couple of mornings, but that's very much a matter of taste. The walk in wardrobe, huge bathroom, space and sunset views made it more than worth it.

Room Tip: We went for a Standard Room with Lagoon View. Staying in Room 101, we had more space than I had expe...

We stayed here for five nights over my birthday. The location is lovely, with beautiful views, and the room is very nice looking. The bathroom was particularly nice, with an amazing shower. Everyone we spoke to in the hotel was friendly and helpful, and the hotel umbrellas were very beneficial as it rained quite heavily on a couple of days. The minibar wasn't particularly expensive, and everything was very clean.

However, for a hotel with such good reviews, I was disappointed in a few things the main thing being how LOUD the room was. During our stay, we found that we could hear everything the people in the room above (on the fifth floor) did. We could also hear everything that occurred outside our door, and in the room next door to us. The noise was a particular problem as throughout the entirety of our stay there was work going on outside of our door, including painting the hallway (which left an unpleasant smell throughout our room). As we were there for a relaxing time this wasn't much fun as we couldn't sleep in due to the noise of the people painting and doing work right outside our door, the clunking about of people upstairs, and our neighbours in the next room. We did feel perhaps of a hotel with such a good reputation, they would have let their guests know ahead of time if work would happen during our visit. Finally, the cleaning was ridiculous. I am happy to have a clean hotel - of course - but given the paper thin doors / walls, the fact that it seemed to take all day to vacuum the carpets meant that no matter what time we were in our room throughout the day, all we could hear was noise.

A nice hotel in many ways, but I would probably not visit again.

We stayed in Room 501, which is a Junior Suite. Overall we really enjoyed our stay (2 nights 18th Jan)
The Hotel has 4 main floors, but room 501 is effectively the Penthouse which you get to via a flight of stairs from the 4th floor.
It's a strange set-up. As you get to top of stairs you arrive in the [long, thin] lounge area. This leads out to the lovely private secluded terrace which has an absolutely fabulous view).
From the lounge you then go passed the [small'ish] bathroom and then an average size bedroom with a "Queen" bed (2 singles pushed together!). The room wasn't as big as I had hoped for a "Junior Suite"; I am not sure if the "normal" Junior Suites are larger.
Despite the size, the room and set-up really grew on us, and we had a lovely stay.

Stefano on the desk was very helpful.
TIPS:
1) there are spare pillows under the bed. We found these on our last day when I was checking the room! :(
2) Go to Carpaccio Restaurant two bridges from the hotel. It's lovely. We had two meals there 125 EUR and 155 EUR (including chateaubriand and v nice bottle wine).
3) To get from airport take blue line water boat, which stops right near the hotel (about an hour trip from airport).
4) the hotel offers a FREE personal trip to he glass factory at murano island. basically this is arranged by the glss factory who have a deal with the hotel to send them their customers (who will have a "free" trip, but hopefully will buy some of their glassware; we did!)

The hotel has a bar of sorts, where you can be served a drink of your choice, but you're basically sitting in the breakfast room. it's not a proper hussle bussle bar.

Breakfast is included but only contintental but lots to chose from. You can ask for extra cooked stuff for a small cost.

Reception/entrance is quite small. There's no grand entrance if you like that sort of thing.

It's about 10~15 minute walk to the main square. Close enough, but far enough away to be away from the crowds.

Overall, I'd recommend the Bucintoro!

We stayed at Hotel Bucintoro for three nights including New Year's eve. It was perfect! The staff was outstandig.
We arrived late and took the water taxi from the airport (about an hour ride) to the hotel. Needless to say we were very tired. We walked just a few hundred yards from the water taxi stop to the hotel and were overjoyed with our room. We walked into our room and threw open the curtains and couldn't belive the stunning view from our window. So close to everything, but just far enough to be out of the real crowds. Breakfast was very nice each morning and the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful to us. The only little thing was the first night the room was very warm, but we asked the gentleman at the front desk is there was anything he could do and he immediately fixed it for us. If we ever return to Venice, we will defintely stay here again.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms in this hotel, however if you select the penthouse or something like that, y...

we were lucky enough to upgrade to room 501- a room with a private roof top terrace overlooking the lagoon and looking out to San Marco.

The key was the terrace- amazing views. We checked in on January 3- it was sunny and 55 degrees and we were jet lagged from our trip from NYC. Dropped our luggage in the room and went outside- WOW. Sat there in the sun, overlooking the lagoon, watching the boats for an hour.

Came back on the terrace at sunset- beautiful. Enjoyed the terrace daily.

The room itself was spotless- as was the hotel. Shower pressure was very good. The bed was a little hard for our tastes. Bedroom was a little small.

Our room was lined with wood- floors, ceilings, even the tv holder was wood. There was also a small sitting room adjacent to the bedroom area- access to roof deck was through the sitting area.

The staff were quite friendly and spoke english well. Internet worked fine.

The breakfast was totally fine and the staff were kind and helpful.

only thing i did not like was one suggestion for dinner one night- we asked for a non touristy place that was not crazy expensive within a reasonable walk. We said we like to go to places that they would send their friends- They suggested Ristorante Franz- we happened to pass it later that day-it was closed and there was no menu in the window- so i knew we were in trouble. when we went back to the room - i checked it out on TA- got nice reviews but was very pricy- so we cancelled it.. No way the hotel staff would be going there with their friends at those prices.

other than that- which is quite minor- a lovely stay

Room Tip: roof top terrace was amazing.

Just returned from a fantastic stay at the bucintoro. The air con was working perfectly in our room and the showers were hot. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were immaculate, as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice
The hotel was ideally placed, San Marcos square was a 10min walk away.
Couldn't recommend the hotel enough, if we were ever to return to Venice we would most definitely return.

Start with the bad..
1 - no heating! Middle of the winter and rooms were so uncomfortable due to it being so cool. Air con was not working, they had people working on it for 4 days and still couldn't get it working. What is more annoying is that the staff didn't even offer heaters, they had them because they had one in their front office and in the dinning room.

2 - Luke warm to cold showers, again middle of the winter not good! Staff conveniently couldn't
understand English when we told them we had cold water when showering.

Location was excellent, rooms clean Thanks to Isabella. Breakfast was very good, Mara was the only caring friendly staff member. Always had a smile and couldn't do enough for us in the morning at breakfast.
We had a corner room on the fourth floor lovely view, quiet.

Really good bar, Bar Collo, Modi, 1476 Castello, is just around the corner, friendly staff and make excellent Spritz.

Lots of good priced restaurants close.

I have to mark rooms and service as average due to heating, or lack of it, and the staff not being helpful and honest in this area.

Dear customer,
first of all I offer you my sincerest apologies for not being able, apparently, to make entirely satisfactory your stay in our Hotel.
The inconvenience felt by you , was due to the rupture of the main motor of the heating,
thing of all for us, unpredictable and temporary defect, that has been repaired completely so that the showers, as the rooms are now hot and everything is working at full capacity.
in the moment of unease, you have to believe that we have tried in every way to alleviate the 'inconvenience for customers and the concierge was always willing to listen to complaints and find solutions; thought we had done our best, but apparently not we did it at all.
Besides, you didn't make us understand your discontent and didn't give us a way to help you.
At the same time we are proud to have received your praise both for the overall service, the staff and the background of our Hotel
We will therefore pleased, you come back, as our guest to be able to confirm our professionalism
Sincerely
