“great location, nice lobby, entrance and garden, ultra compact rooms”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

my title says it all!

we just stayed for one night so did not experience the facilities much, but the rooms are really compact! the location is great though, just a hop, skip and jump from Zattere water taxi station specially if you are lugging heavy bags like we were doing!

The complimentary breakfast was a letdown with hardly anything but cold, baked pastries.

The hotel is run with a very small staff - i found the same girl who checked us in at 9pm on the reception desk next day around 11am and in fact joked about this to her and she informed that she actually sleeps in the hotel itself.

Its one of the worst hotels that I have stayed in. There was just one person in the reception that was in charge of running the whole hotel. Horrible rooms, even the air conditioner was not working. In the morning, the water ran out in the bathroom.

Well located and good from the outside garden area. But then it goes all wrong. Just one staff to handle everything - calls, checkins / outs / customer queries/ buying drinks etc etc. They give no information about the room and facilities as the person just had no time. The AC does not work unless you inform them (thats a new one for hotels). Both girls on duty that we saw looked stressed out in their shifts without anytime for them to breathe.

We had to open our own wine bottle and carry the glasses to where we wanted to have a drink - but the garden they have is a decent place to relax ! Rooms are like out of a horror movie (ours was a blood red colour with torn wallpaper) - avoid this room for sure ! TV looks like an antique and no channels of use , bathroom clean but basic (bring your own soap and shampoo here). For the price its not worth it - should be 30% cheaper for what it is- compared to the hilton Garden Inn (which is not as well located) but much better rooms and space. Breakfast was also to be fair ok and included.

They charge 1 Euro for a free shoppers guide map which sums up the management philosophy. We went with another family and their review would not be much better so not a biased opinion..

Room Tip: Ask the colour of your room first unless you are colour blind !!

We should have listened to the other reviews on here before we booked.
The room was tiny, we booked a double bed but it was actually 2 single mattresses pushed together. They sloped in towards each which meant we both rolled in to the center and the gap.
We ended up putting a pillow in the middle of the bed to stop us rolling.
We weren't told that you have to ask for the aircon to be activated so for 2 nights we were stinking hot.
The hotel is right next to a school gym and the kids are so loud and the music is played really loud from 8am.
The staff were less than helpful. Breakfast was below average and the staff were clueless - we didnt even eat it it was so bad.
The Tv was so tiny and old. Everything was in Italian and no sky or movies.
The only good thing about the hotel was the location to the water bus.

The Hotel Belle Arti has a wonderful location, as it is close to two water taxi locations and yet it is quiet and less crowded. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was quite nice. Staff is friendly and helpful but didn't exactly go out of their way. If you do not mind a SMALL room this is an average hotel which should satisfy for a short stay.

The Hotel Belle Arti is located in a very convenient area between the Zattere and Accademia.
It had a beautiful interior - what with red carpets. The rooms were a bit small - but nice and cozy. The garden area was nice for breakfast. Very friendly staff, quick check in. No fridge in the room, tiny - really tiny- bathroom, so be aware if you have more than one suitcase might be a problem! Worst breakfast i have ever seen in a four star hotel. The waitress was bringing only very few things at a time, when it was overcrowded, that made it quite difficult to find something to eat. Still i Would recommend this \hotel for the location, and for the price. You simply get what you pay for.

I had initially booked a double room for my wife and me at the DOMUS CAVANIS. But there was some confusion with my booking. And the moment I brought this up with the hotel, they changed my booking to Hotel Belle Arti. When I reached Venice - I realized that Hotel Belle Arti and DOMUS CAVANIS are just opposite each other and Hotel Belle Arti is the parent hotel for DOMUS CAVANIS .

Back to Hotel Belle Arti - on reaching there, I realized, it had a stunningly beautiful interior - what with red carpets etc. I just loved it. The room it self was a bit small - but nice and cozy and enough for us. It overlooked the garden which was nice.

The location of the hotel is also great and is just a 2-3 minute walk from the water taxi station.

The breakfast was nice and I really liked the level of service and the attention we we paid.

I loved my stay here and hopefully, if I ever come back to Venice - this is going to be my place!!
