“Great location lovely setting!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

We stayed in the Pensione Accademia in October of 2012 with a group of friends for a couple of days. We loved the setting, right next to a canal with beautiful gardens and sitting areas front and back. The staff - especially Luciano - were extremely helpful throughout our stay. The location at the Accadameia stop is perfect and easy to get to. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Very highly recommend.

We stayed in this 17th century villa for six nights. It had 27 rooms. Disappointed when we arrived as we were given an average sized room but exceptionally cramped bathroom. This was our most expensive hotel in Italy at EUR250/night. We arrived late in the evening and the welcome we received by the two men behind the reception desk was not very enthusiastic. Over the next few days this improved. We asked for another room and the next morning they changed our room to a larger one which was a definite improvement. We had three windows overlooking a small canal which was nice. Buffet breakfast was great. The private garden front and back was beautiful but we chose to spend our time sightseeing. However, if you just wanted to sit and relax in a gorgeous quiet environment, then this is the place. This is not a hotel for the aged or infirm unless arrangements can be made for a room on the ground floor because being an old but beautiful villa, there were no lifts and lots of winding stairs. The location is central, especially if one wanted to go to the main Accademia Gallery and the delightful Peggy Guggenheim Museum nearby (we ate lunch at her relatively new cafe which was enjoyable). It’s only a fifteen minute walk to San Marco. It is also close to two of the public ferry (vaporetto) stops. Our favourite restaurant which was about 5 minutes walk was called Enoteca Ai Artisti. It was small and low key but the food was good.

Room Tip: Our room overlooking the canal had a bit of noise in the mornings, from the engines of passing barge...

My wife and I spent 3 nights. The accomodations are very clean and spacious for European standards. Our room (16) overlooked a nice garden area and was quiet. Breakfast was extensive. Small lunches are available until noon. There is no elevator for those with walking problems. Location was good to see sights toward the east in St Mark's area as well as toward the western area. 10 min. walk (by American standard) to Accademia museum and roughly 20 to St. Mark's Piazza. Away from St. Mark's toward the west is another shopping, sightseeing area that is different and somewhat quieter.

Staff was exceptionally helpful for locating restaurants, sights, getting around.

Stayed at this wonderful near the confluence of the Grand Canal and a smaller canal. Great service. Room with a view of both canals and a full breakfast every morning in the front garden.
Close to lots of sites. Paid a very reasonable rate during a busy time.

Water isn't the only thing deluging Venice - try 60,000 tourists a day. I got to say it was a bit of a shock after my last visit, admittedly some time ago. But this time I really felt the crush of numbers. And this made Pensione Accademia a most appreciated hotel after a day in the madding crowd. It has a delightful garden and also an internal courtyard - make sure to have an afternoon drink under the pergola on the canal which runs into the grand canal. Definitely an oasis. We had a suite which comprised a fairly large room on the front garden, and smaller bedroom and a reasonable sized bathroom. It was very comfortable and everything including wifi worked well. Breakfast was very good and hats off to the evening drinks waiter.

went for a wedding. Beautiful weather. Hotel location very close to Academia bridge. Not so quite as it is one of the main links to grand canale. If you are staying front facing over looking the canal you will hear all deliveries in the morning and hooting . We were allocated room 24 which is a box good for one but not for two. You have no space for anything. However very clean room and bathroom. Beautiful gardens . Breakfast very extensive. Definitely will stay there again but not front facing room.

Room Tip: Do not book room 24

Great location, easy water taxi ride from the airport practically to the front door. We had a nice clean room with a view to the canal. The breakfast was good and it was so nice to be able to sit out in the garden to eat. The location was ideal and the local neighborhood was fun to explore. There were some nice spots to stop and have a coffee and soak up Venice. Our room had everything you would need and the pensione had several common areas where you could sit and have a glass of wine. The front desk was courteous and cheerful.
