Water isn't the only thing deluging Venice - try 60,000 tourists a day. I got to say it was a bit of a shock after my last visit, admittedly some time ago. But this time I really felt the crush of numbers. And this made Pensione Accademia a most appreciated hotel after a day in the madding crowd. It has a delightful garden and also an internal courtyard - make sure to have an afternoon drink under the pergola on the canal which runs into the grand canal. Definitely an oasis. We had a suite which comprised a fairly large room on the front garden, and smaller bedroom and a reasonable sized bathroom. It was very comfortable and everything including wifi worked well. Breakfast was very good and hats off to the evening drinks waiter.
