“Good 3-star hotel with lovely staff in excellent location”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

The location of this hotel is terrific. Had I been staying elsewhere of the same grade in San Marco, and I spotted this hotel, I probably would have wished I stayed here instead. The staff are lovely, the facilities are fine. It wasn't perfect of course. I wasn't given bath towels until I asked for them (twice), the lift acts randomly, and the pillows are bricks. But who comes to Venice for polished perfection? The rooms are small but have a touch of Venetian patterns and design, there's enough space to take care of your belongings, there's a fridge and a safe, and the common areas are just lovely traditional spaces including two pretty courtyards with cafe tables. There was a special deal on the room rate for this hotel, and if I were to return to Venice with the opportunity to pay the same special rate, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We found this hotel a few days before our trip to see Venice and it did not disappoint. Located in San Marco a short walk from the ferry and water taxis with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. We were a 7 or 8 minute walk from Piazza San Marco and closer to the music museum. We enjoyed having coffee in a large square a few minutes walk away.

While I did not look in a room for two my single room was adequate for my needs and the bed comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and spoke English like they were brought up on it. Breakfast was included and fit our needs and they had 2 coffee machines giving you choices which I find important.

I would definitely return to this hotel.

Location is great, but when they say "old world charm" it means very available space is stuffed with slightly mismatched old furniture. Room was adequate, but air conditioning was had just two settings - either 30C or off. Made for interesting night with air on on and the wide on open overnight while it was 5C outside... If you like old electronics, be sure to explore the ancient CRT miniature TV!
Breakfast is best skipped - have had better in a roadway inn.

this hotel has 2 things going for it - good location and a really great staff!
however, i would take a good 3 star hotel over this 4 star hotel any day of the week.
the elevator didnt work half the time, air conditioning doesn't exist, heating you have no control over - meaning sometimes you have no heating in the middle of the night and you freeze and sometimes its so hot you wake up at 3am in sweat, breakfast is very basic though fresh, rooms are very small and i had a single room there the bed was so small i fell off it twice during sleep!
honestly, i think it is just impertinence to sell this hotel as 4 star but i guess more experienced people than me give the ranking..

This is a comfortable, old fashioned hotel in a central but quiet location 10 minutes easy walk from St Mark's Square. Right next to La Fenice opera house, it has been home to many famous singers and mementoes abound. Our room was small but contained all we needed and the shower behaved perfectly.
Breakfast was very good assuming you can cope with some indigestion- inducing modern art in the dining room! There is art everywhere, some good, some not so good, but that's all a question of taste.
Staff are helpful and friendly, recommending and booking tours and restaurants.
Overall, very good value for money.

Maybe it was because we visited in the winter when there aren't many tourists but I was completely underwhelmed by the hotel. Staff were polite but not extremely helpful with the exception of the woman who ran breakfast who couldn't have been nicer. The location is very good but the hotel is worn, and not in a charming way. Our room had peeling trim, exposed plaster, significant dust on the baseboards, rust stains on the shower head. The mattresses on the twin beds were old and wouldn't stay on the frames so we would slide off the bed. I just don't see how this hotel could be rated 4stars.

The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk from St Marks Square, 3 minutes from the Alilaguna water bus stop St Angelo. So very easy to get from the Airport. The staff are all friendly and helpful. There is lots of art on the walls in the Hotel which makes it interesting. Our room was big with a very large bed, We had a view over the canal which was a nice bonus, room had air conditioning, mini bar and TV, but no coffee making facilities. There is WiFi in the hotel in the common areas but not the rooms, however we could get wifi in our room in one corner. The continental breakfast was very good with cold cuts, cereal, pastries and cake. There is no restaurant in the hotel but you get a discount at the restaurant next door, however this is still quite expensive, there are several other restaurants near by.
