We had a deluxe double canal side room. Ornate and evocative of old Italy, it was perfect for our two night stay and first trip to Venice. Location is superb with the Rialto bridge close by and St.Mark's Square a pleasant 20 minute walk.
People have mentioned noise yet we found the shutters and windows closed at night kept all the noise out. Breakfast is basic continental and is enough to set you on your way.
If you have lots of luggage then I recommend you get a private boat from the airport - we booked online with Consorzio Motoscafi. It's about 90 Euros one way - expensive, yes, but a stylish way to arrive in Venice and you are dropped right in front of the hotel. Money well spent.
The hotel made good recommendations for restaurants - we liked to avoid the Tourist Menu places!
Antico Doge is not cheap, however, it does offer great location, Venetian style and helpful staff. I would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Overlooking the canal - you might only visit Venice once!

This hotel was in a great location. Very close to the Rialto bridge and an easy walk to St. Mark's square. The building is typical Venetian architecture. Based on the name, I think the history of the building was that it was once owned or maybe built by one of the doges of Venice.

The location is good not only because it is close to landmarks, but it is so cool to walk out the door, and you are on a canal and the front door opens to the typical arched bridge. You walk across the bridge to a nice open square. From there you can walk down a wide path for 10-15 min and there are loads of outdoor restaurants, bread shops, pastry shops, and tourist shops. It was really one of the best walking areas we found.

Inside the hotel room things were kind of dated. We had a suite for a family of four. It was very roomy since it had a loft. The bathroom was a good size and it had a tub. Bathroom was very nice. Some of the woodwork in the room was scuffed some floorboards were loose. I can see how that might put some people off, to me it was character. We had free wi-fi and that seemed to work well. We had a window but no view. The room was quiet, beds were comfy and good for sleeping.

The breakfast was pretty good. The coffee was from a machine but still pretty good in my opinion. The breakfast was the same everyday, decent, but it gets boring. The only egg choice was hard boiled and meat was fatty prosciutto. Baked goods were tasty, cereal, whole fruit and yogurts.

Overall, good place to stay and I was very happy with the value. Everything was smooth.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. I was travelling with two other friends. When we were checking in, we had some problems with our reservations and bookings, so the staff graciously upgraded us to their suite room. It was magnificent. Sure, it's a little noisy because it is right by the canal and this is Venice, but hey, it's totally worth it. There is also a great restaurant when you leave the hotel and make a right and keep going, by the canal. The room was splendid: gorgeous and clean. The breakfast was a success, as well. Everything was delicious. Great location, too! If I ever visit Venice again, which I definitely plan on doing so, this hotel would be my first choice.

My wife & I stayed four nights in May in a canal facing room on recommendation from our daughter. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom small (and the shower head had a mind of its own) and the room decorated in classic Venetian style - what else? We were worried the first night about the canal noise but the shutters and window glazing took care of it, and it subsided fairly early anyway. The church bells didn't start until 7 am so we both had a restful sleep. Breakfast was disappointing for a hotel this size - tinned fruit?? as another reviewer commented the markets are close by - use their produce. Staff were very helpful; two restaurant suggestions proved ideal. We loved getting lost in the maze of alleys and canals of Venice; best to go at 6am before the crowds arrive!

We had the superior deluxe double with canal view which was beautiful. The location of this hotel is perfect. However what let the hotel down was the poor breakfast. There was very little choice and for a hotel so close to the Rialto Markets where amazing fruit can be purchased daily I was disappointed to have tinned fruit salad. Having travelled Italy quite extensively and being the land of amazing coffee it was horrific to be offered coffee from a vending machine for breakfast. It was disgustingly undrinkable and barely warm. YUK. There were waitresses standing around who surely could have served each table with a pot of coffee or tea with hot water. Not what we expected for a three star hotel.......Also for the first few nights that we were there it was quite chilly and when we asked if we could put the heating on to just warm the room up. We were told there was no heating available at the moment as it was "on a loop" and couldn't be put on. I was given an extra blanket for the bed... Again a little disappointing for such an expensive hotel....

Room Tip: Room 103 was very nice. You don't want a rear room over the noisy juice bar.

Gentile Cliente,

Cordiali Saluti

A traditional style Venetian hotel. Very good location close to both the Rialto bridge and St Marks Square. The hotel over looks a square and is next to both a gondola and water taxi stop. In addition there is a main water bus stop ca 'dor two minutes from the hotel. I stayed with my mother and my two children in the four bed, bedroom. It is an odd shape but works. Basic amenities in the hotel. Breakfast fresh and sufficient. Staff very friendly and very helpful. In particular the restaurant staff. The hotel itself was very clean. I read the reviews which commented on the noise, and although our room faced onto the square I didn't find the noise a nuisance. It added to the experience to be able to look out over the square and canal. The minimal noise we heard did not affect our stay. Things that would have improved our stay: more wardrobe space! being able to get a drink late - we arrived (after plane delay) early hours of the morning in a storm - we asked the night porter for a hot drink but he informed us we wouldn't be able to get one until the following morning. Otherwise, a very good hotel, in a very good location with friendly helpful staff.

If you go to Venice and just need somewhere comfortable and convenient to stay, this could be for you. The hotel is close to Rialto; it provides immaculately clean and quiet rooms and a small but helpful staff. Breakfast is the only meal served but even this is available by room service, if needed. It is just three star but that relates to the lack of "extras" rather than the quality of the rooms, which is excellent. Try it. We have, twice, and enjoyed it both times.

Room Tip: Quieter at the back overlooking the courtyard rather than the canal
