“Lovely hotel close to the Rialto”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Myself and my wife spend two nights at the Antico Doge and found it to be a lovely hotel with extremely helpful, pleasant and professional staff. The rooms were well furnished with good aircon and free Wifi (up to three hours). the hotel is very central and well situated for both the Ca D'Oro and Rialto Vaparetto stops. For anyone travelling from the airport via the Alilaguna ferry you will need to get off at the Rialto and the hotel is about a 5-10min walk. One point to note is that the walk includes taking any luggage you have over 3-4 bridges.

Once you get your head around the fact that there is a difference in star ratings from Europe to North America and just get on with the experience - you will love this kind of hotel. Very well located (easy stop for a water taxi), fabulous service from the front desk. Breakfast was alright - (coffee machine a bit dodgey). Our room looked out over a square and canal and was a little noisy but overall a wonderful experience in a great city.

My only feedback would be that the bed was very hard and there was no anti slip mat under the carpet and I went flying a few times. (Room 101).

Would totally recommend this hotel. People were wonderful.

The hotel is very handy for the Rialto bridge when you arrive by boat from the airport although there is a nearer vaparetto stop for everyday use. The staff were more than helpful, the rooms delightful and the breakfast varied and plentiful. A lovely location on the can with a lovely bustling square and many nearby places to eat at very reasonable prices. A wonderful 4 night stay in a 3-bedded room. Try it.

It's expensive to stay in venice, so we might as well pay a little more and stay in a nice place. I have been to Venice 3 times before and stayed at different hotels, none close to the class and value for money you get at Antico Doge. The rooms are in classic Venetian style, very impressive for everyone who doesn't have this style at home.

The location of the hotel is also very good, close to the vapretto station, close to the major sights, and right next to a busy canal. The breakfast is good, typical Italian standard, staff friendly.

Overall, I would stay here again and I strongly recommend it for all who's on a romantic holiday in Venice.

This hotel is ideally situated. It's close to many places of interest and only a short walk to the nearest water bus dock. There were three of us so one slept on the day bed downstairs and the other two in the bed upstairs. There was a temperature difference between the two floors as one would expect. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean. If you're interested in a gondola ride, they were usually parked right outside the door! The staff was most accomodating as our train did not leave until late afternoon and they held our luggage for us.
The signage was not as good as it could be. If you come from the Realto Bridge dock (as we originally did) there is no sign, only a small door mat (which we missed) to let you know you're in the right place but if you come from the Ca D'Oro dock (the other direction) there is a large banner on the building.

Wonderful end to our European vacation. Would not hesitate for a moment to come back. Rooms were unique and upheld our expectations. Loved the little cot under our stairs - somewhat Harry Potter like and in fact was the most comfortable bed during our entire vacation. Staff were exceptionally accommodating - even with our early morning departure to the airport. Travelled to and from airport via water taxi - stop was located right outside the hotel. Greatly appreciated that this property was non-smoking!

Room Tip: Our room was right next to the breakfast room - and we were surprised by the lack of noise or hallwa...

Excellent hotel. Close to the main places of interest but far enough from the crowds. The room was just as one imagines a Venetian bedroom to be: damask lined walls and antique furniture. Clean etc. and very good breakfast in a Venetian style dining room. Recommended.
