Very good location. Near Rialto bridge. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. They call all their guests by their names with special attention. Depending on the room, it can be a dark one as the buildings are very close each other. This is very typical for Venice. Very nice stay.

Room Tip: Suite in the lower level has a very nice view to the river and Rialto bridge.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, and serves as a very genuine example of a beautiful town house ( not so sure about the Palace claims mind). It is very special to be able to sit out with a glass of local wine watching the day close from the only balcony on the canal!

The staff are wonderful, and do everything possible to make your stay perfect. If anything, at times it can be all a little too personal and feels like you are staying in someone's back room...but that comes I guess from the intimacy of the place.

The only thing I would say is that the back bedroom (which we had for the first 2 nights) is not great. It is depressing with no windows, and the bathroom was poor.
Also, they need to invest in the bathrooms in general as they are very basic and poor in comparison to the rest of the hotel.

All in all, very good and highly recommended.

This is a small boutique hotel located on the Grand Canal, about 150m from the Rialto Bridge. It was renovated in 2007 and is an absolute gem in the perfect location in the magical city of Venice.

The hotel is literally on the canal and yout water taxi will drop you off to the door. Inside, the rooms are luxourous. You can have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the canal with a lovely view of the Rialto. It takes about a 15 minute stroll to get to Saint Marks. Venice can get very hot and humid so a hotel which you can get to quickly and easily, to take a break and have a shower, is priceless.

The staff are excellent. Their policy must be to do everything to make your stay perfect and to make you feel very special. They use your first names and nothing is too much for them to do for you.

The hotel is not cheap but to be fair, nothing in Venice is cheap. In this case though, you will certainly get what you pay for. We stayed for 2 nights and would have loved to stay longer.

Room Tip: We had the ground floor room which was at the jetty. We could sit out on the jetty and it was the en...

We loved this hotel for it's position near the Rialto Bridge, the opulent rooms, the warmth and friendliness of the staff who couldn't do enough for us. The patio on the canal was the cherry on top! Enjoying breakfast or drinks while watching the activity on the canal was wonderful. Even at 3am in the morning they were happy to get me a drink of milk.

We spent 3 enjoyable nights in this small (9 rooms) very Venetian hotel before catching a cruise. A water taxi is the best option from the airport (110 euros, but a great introduction to Venice and land taxis drop you off several blocks away) to the hotel's dock on the Grand Canal. It is impossible not to be won over by the friendly, helpful staff and and the old world elegance of the hotel. We felt as if we were being welcomed into a family home. Every staff member called us by our first names as they gave us a quick tour and took us to our spacious room decorated with antique furniture and fine fabric wallpaper with direct views across the Grand Canal. Our room (109) was at dock level. We couldn't see very far up and down the canal because the adjacent building on our right and room 108 across the hall jut out further towards the water, but we still had a great view.
The king sized bed was "European firm", but not rock hard like some other Italian hotels. The bathroom was not large, but was modern and well-maintained.The shower was small with folding door, but it had a multiple heads and worked quite well. Breakfast on the terrace with panoramic views of the Rialto Bridge and The Grand Canal was a treat. The location is an easy walk to all the main attractions and shopping areas. The owner, Matteo, should be congratulated for assembling such a wonderful, caring staff. Rosalba in the restaurant, Oliver, Robert, Lorenzo and everyone else went out of their way to meet our every need. If you want to experience true Italian hospitality in a one-of-a-kind setting, you will love this hotel.

Room Tip: 108 is a suite with probably the best view, but 103 on the terrace level and our room 109 have decen...

This is a lovely small hotel with only eight rooms, kind of like a bed and breakfast. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Matteo greeted us by name as did all of his staff. David, Thomas, Oliver, Lorenzo and Rosaria (who made the best eggs every morning) were all so friendly and accommodating. Our room was awesome with a wonderful view of the Grande Canal. This stay was the best part of our 40th anniversary celebration.

We (my wife, son and I) have travelled alot and I have never put a review on tripadvisor until now. We loved our stay at this hotel and can highly recommend it to others, all the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist us. Our room 102 was very spacious, not to mention beautiful with a fabulous view of the Rialto Bridge. It is very much run like a family business where the staff make you feel like part of their family. What really does make the Al Ponte Antico Hotel special, is that it is a small boutique hotel and not the usual standard 5 star larger hotel where you are just a guest. Along with some of the other comments we also wish we had arranged to stay longer than the 2 days booked. Without question we will be back, I'm already missing the fabulous breakfast on the balcony!
