Owner description: The Orchestra Virtuosi di Venezia-Orchestra da camera di San Marco had been formed in 2002 under the inspiration of Vivaldi's work. The ensemble and the musical formation have both been chosen to recall the exact situation in which Vivaldi worked and reproposes in its concerts the athmosphere and the genio of the Red Priest' compositions. The Orchestra was born with the intention and the honor of paying tribute to the great composer in the prestigious Ateneo di San Basso, in San Marco square, whose hall has the same dimensions of the Pieta Institue music hall, in which Vivaldi composed.

This is located in a corner of St. Mark's Square. We saw the string quartet and two opera singers. This was a great way to spend a musical evening in Venice.

On our recent trip to Venice we spent an hour in a chapel near Saint Mark's listening to a fabulous tenor, soprano, harpsichord, violins, and cello perform a series arias from familiar operas. It was enjoyable even for my non- opera buff husband and not pricey (about 25 euros and less with a military id). A great way to get a small taste of Vivaldi, Handel etc.

Very good performance in a central location. The quality of the music was fantastic and well worth the 25 euro

This was the second of two concerts we have seen in Venice, the other being the baroque and opera at the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro.
This one seemed to be a notch up in terms of musicians and singers, but lacked the humour and more opulent surroundings of the other.
The tenor at this one was simply amazing - but I believe they change frequently.
It was a short but action lacked performance. Good value at 25 euro. Highly recommended.

Opera was excellent. We arrived late, but not to worry, there were still tickets available. The concert itself only lasted an hour, but it was an action packed hour, these guys have been doing this a while, and the number of good songs packed into such a short time is nothing short of impressive. The soprano had amazing voice control, and the tenor had a very nice tone. Overall, the duo was impressive, well worth the 25 euro entrance fee.

This concert is perfect for someone new to opera. Its cheap, and you get some of the most popular songs in history. The concert we went to was Vivaldi and Opera, but not all of the songs were written by Vivaldi. The venue is very easy to find, right next to St. Marks Basilica in St. Marks square. The chairs in the church are slightly better than your average lawn chair, but its a short concert and the seats were comfortable enough. For a price this low, you won't find this overall quality very frequently.

I would highly recommend this venue to anyone interested in getting a taste of opera in an amazing overall location.
