“Disappointing end to our trip”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

For a month we used airbnb traveling around Italy with huge success.
Decided to do a hotel for last period in Venice. A mistake.

Pros:
Close to railway station
Quiet room with terrace which overlooks courtyard

Cons:
No wifi - has not had wifi for weeks
Staff don't care
King bed is actually two singles held together by sheet
Physical plant in dire need of upgrade
( carpet worn and peeling, wallpaper peeling, grout missing from tiled areas, etc.)
Old decor

Phoned down to ask again about wifi. The desk advised us that we needed to come down and get password from basket in lobby. We responded, "the wifi is now working?" Deck says no.

Breakfast was ok, nothing special.

Room Tip: Courtyard room with terrace

We stayed here for two nights.
Location: Great: Aptly located close to the railway terminal and will not be difficult to find. It is also at a walking distance from the canal and thus transportation for any location can be easily availed.

Food: Decent: The breakfast was regular English breakfast though not a very large spread. The choices for strict vegetarians were however quite limited to things like cereals, bread, juices, milk etc. However, being in central location, there are countless options to explore all around serving great food.

Rooms: The room was spacious, clean and well lit. The decor is old Venetian style and is a welcome change. The bathroom was also quite big when compared to the size of the room, and was well maintained and clean.

Other: The staff was polite and the hotel was providing free Wi-fi.

What a find! Lovely hotel right beside the main train station and a great location for exploring Venice. Firstly, the hotel staff were charming. We are smokers and asked for a smoking room, no longer available however. It was suggested that we open the windows, what a surprise, a very long terrace outside with table and chairs. Stunning. The room was small and simple, breakfast was delicious. Right beside the No,.2 Vaporetto which goes down the Grand Canal. Then, turn left and you are into Venetian Venice. Will definitely go back to this hotel, as others have said, perhaps not 4 star, but a good 3, clean, lovely and friendly. Excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms on the terrace

This hotel is easily found, which is very, very important in a city like Venice. 5 minutes walking from the train station or 10 minutes walking from the airport shuttle bus station, this hotel got a strategic position to make easier your arrival / departure from Venice. Walk in Venice can be slow, especially if you got bags or when the Acqua Alta (floods) is happening. If you don’t want to spend 40 / 50 minutes in the waterbus to the airport, this hotel got the location that you need. In the other hand, takes 25 minutes walking to Piazza San Marco…

The room got a tall ceiling and is quite spacious. The decor is old venetian style. Some people would complain because it is old, but to be old and traditional is the purpose of this decor. The room has everything you need, from wardrobes and hangers to toiletries. The bed is comfortable, but I was in the 2nd floor and there is some noise coming from the street. Nothing terrible, but could disturb people with problems to sleep. One annoying point was that during the shower the water overflows the drain in a few seconds. You have to shut the water and wait if you don’t want a small pool on your feet.

The service is good. For the breakfast they offer a good variety to please all tastes. The wifi worked well in the rooms.
After the checkout, they offer to keep your bags which will be locked and they give you a number to collect them later. No worries at all.

We went here on a short break just the two of us, the transfers from the airport to Venice island were fantastic. The hotel was very easily found from the train station and was surrounded by bustling lanes, shops and bars.
The hotel had a lovely entrance and as soon as we were inside it felt very chiq.
We checked in with the helpful staff, and shown to our room. The room was beautiful, clean and had a lovely venician style. The rooms were well lit, warm and comfortable.
Our room backed on to a court yard, it was very quiet.
Lovely stay. Would recommend and stay again.
Thanks x

Room Tip: Ask for a court yard room, very quiet. I can imagine a bit noisier on the street with no views of th...

Of the three hotels we stayed in in Italy, this was our least favourite. The room was fairly large, but the decor was Venetian to a fault - guilded everything and distinctly faded colours. The furniture, carpet and draperies seemed to have been there FOREVER and there was a distinct odour to the room, with notes of sewage. This odour may have been due to the fact that we were in Venice and not the hotel. I hear they get a lot of flooding, however we were on the third floor, so not sure how that should work. The front desk staff were not too friendly or helpful. Our a/c was nearly non-existent, which did affect our sleep in the August heat.

The hotel is very close to the main station and the vaporettos stand. The hotel is pretty old so expect ordinary rooms for a four star. The rooms are clean. The breakfast buffet is definitely four star though. There are many restaurants nearby but again you need to check trip advisor as some are tourist rip offs. The location and the price is hard to beat for Venice and might stay again.
