Firstly I have to say the the hotel's location is second to none, easy walking distance to all the sites but tucked away enough to be able to enjoy some peace and quiet if you so wish. The rooms are very clean and well furnished but are not big by the standards of other European countries, not really a problem as far as we are concerned as you don't go to such a beautiful city to sit in your room all day. If and when we return to Venice I would certainly consider staying in the Colombina again but my only gripe would be the lack of a bar service after midnight. Quite often we would return to the hotel after 12 having spend a few hours at one of the fantastic restaurants in the local area and it would have been nice to have been able to have had a night cap before turning in but the hotel will not entertain it, I can understand that they have to think of other guests and they do not want people being disturbed at all hours of the morning but the option would have been nice. As I say this in its self would not put me off returning to the hotel but it does stop me giving the hotel an excellent rating.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the canal, it was lovely to wake up to the sights...

Having read many reviews on Tripadvisor I do wonder why some people bother to step out of their homes! Venice is expensive. It's breathtaking and worth every penny. If you re not prepared to pay for fabulous views, atmospheric hotels, a cultural delight at every piazza and ponte, then stay at home! If you want to indulge in some truly awe inspiring architecture, fascinating gothic designs, and marvel at piazzo san marco before and after the crowds then I recommend hotel Colombina. It's a stone's throw from the square, with fantastic views of the Bridge of Sighs from the rooms overlooking the canal. Staff are extremely friendly , our room was adequately sized for us, beautifully decorated in traditional Venetian style with marbled floors and a murano glass chandelier. Breakfast choice was continental; fruit, cereals, Venetian style "full English" with cooked ham rather than bacon- which was delicious. Not a typical "English" but nothing to complain about either.
Colombina is a little gem, tucked away on the edge of the Castello district in a prime location. We will definitely be back!

This hotel was very welcoming, the rooms were large, comfortable and clean. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the hotel is in a good location for all the popular sights, it has it's own landing stage if arriving by water taxi and is very close to other transpost links in st. marks square. There are many good restaurants close bye. The only criticism is there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We would certainly return to this hotel and recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the canal and the bridge of Sighs and could watch the passing gondolas.

The room was dark and dingy, we had to have all lamps on to see inside our cases. There was noise of chairs scraping above us and it sounded as though someone was jumping up and down from 2:30am until 8am?? Everything had a charge, we paid the door man for taking our luggage to our room then it was charged as an extra on our account. We were told that since it was such a lovely afternoon that the hotel would like to do something nice for its patrons which we thought sounded thoughtful only to be told that each activity would cost us €30 per head?! The people in reception were tolerable but not overly helpful or friendly. I would not recommend this hotel and will try somewhere different again.

My Wife and I recently spent two night at the Hotel Colombina and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is on the canal and best way to arrive is by water taxi. The hotel is convenient to all of Venice . The rooms are big and very well appointed . The complimentary breakfast is very elaborate and very good. The most impressive is the staff who will go out of their way to make for a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday ,booked mainly because of reviews, the hotel was clean , we had a room without a view unfortunately (only room available) 209 nice size ,good decor very quiet but a just a view of cigarette butts outside the window
staff friendly , nothing special ,we asked for a shared taxi to the airport and were told there was no one to share with,on arrival at the airport another couple from our hotel and on the same flight had been booked on a taxi 10 mins earlier than us ,this was disappointing.
Great location,communal areas very cramped.
Maybe we were expecting too much ,we had a fabulous time in Venice ,but hotel was no more than average .
We would definitely stay in the same area again but not at this hotel.

Room Tip: A canal view is a must

We decided on this hotel mainly because of reviews from trip advisors so we were probably expecting something really special and it wasn't. It was a very nice hotel, great location and friendly staff.

However the beds I found really uncomfortable and the curtains were quite dirty, the room needed to be re- decorated to make it fell fresh and clean.

There was no air conditioning so I would imagine in the summer the heat would be something else! Breakfast was lovely, really well presented and a very good selection with attentive staff.
If you want to drink or snack in the hotel it is very, very expensive so watch out.

What was really disappointing was that we wanted to go to the Murano Glass Factory and good news without asking we were told as the weather wasn't great they were putting on water taxis to take us tomorrow and keep us in the dry. A lovely thought you might think. Not so after we got there we were given a show that lasted approximately 15 mins by the master - don't get me wrong they are really skilled and it was interesting. However you then were taken on a tour of their showrooms where they stalk you and lose interest very quickly if you aren't going to spend a considerable amount of money. We did spend about £150 on a lovely glass figure but clearly not enough to warrant them paying for a water taxi back for us so we and some people we had hooked up with we're left to get the water bus back to the hotel in the pouring rain.

My point the hotel should have fully explained to us as it left us disenchanted and feeling ripped off.

It isn't in my opinion worth paying 120 euros each way to the airport in a water taxi as the water ferry is just as good and you get to see more.
I had waited a long time to go to Venice but found it over priced for a very mediocre service in most restaurants.

Definitely not worth the cost of the holiday and we won't be returning.
