“Wonderful place to stay and easy to find again when you get lost in Venice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

We were warmly welcomed when arriving on a cold wet Monday morning. The staff checked our luggage and gave us directions to San Marco plaza which is a very short walk away. We returned a few hours later and checked into a room facing a canal. The bridge of sighs is easily viewed and we took photos out the window day and night. Our room was large for Europe. The tv worked fine and had 3 English stations. Breakfast was wonderful. Many options in the buffet. Had a wonderful time. A light bulb burnt out by the bed and a new one was brought up in a short amount of time.

My husband booked this hotel as a surprise for my 40th birthday and we was travelling with 2 other couples. Beware if booking this hotel through Expedia they advertise the hotel as a 4* hotel and we booked thinking we was booking a 4* but we was allocated 3 of the annex room which are only 3* (very nice 3 star but still 3 star) Room no 604 (very small and dark) 605 beautiful ceiling and a lovely room with a sofa (agian a very dark room) and 612 this room is very bright but didnt have a shower (very nice bath). The beds had very very hard mattresses and were not very comfortable (didnt notice the 1st night as the alcohol had taken effect!). The annex hallway doubles as a breakfast room for Annex resisdents the breakfast is Continental and on the Saturday we had a very good selection , on the sunday the selection seemed to have been what was left from the saturday breakfast. I have to say i would stay in the hotel agian , it would have been lovely to have a canel view room but generally you really dont spend alot of time in the hotel as Venice is such a beautiful place . This hotel does have a brillant location being only 2 mins walk from St Marks Square and 10mins Walk from The Rialto Bridge. If you are travelling in from Marco Polo airport save you money dont get a water taxi as they cost 110 euro for 4 people and if you walk a little further you can get on the water bus that cost 27 euro return journey and takes you to st marks square, one thing to bear in mind this journey does take a hour!!!! but it well worth saving your money.

Room Tip: Choose rooms in the main 4 star hotel not the annex if you want canel views!!!! but room 605 is beau...

A friend recommended this hotel when we were planning a recent trip to venice. It is wonderfully located, very close to st marks square and a short (yet complicated) walk to rialto. our flight landed early, at 8 am, and the manager was quick to offer one of our 2 rooms for us to have a brief nap. the rooms are a littel sparse, but the full view of the canal, made looking outside more interesting than focussing in. The rooms were very spacious and couls accomodate 2 adults and a child well. a fullish Breakfast in the am was served in the sunny breakfast room. Al staff friendly and helpful. we paid 217 e for each room during the first of march.

Room Tip: ask for a canal view room, on one of the higher floors, great view, minimal noise.

We have just returned from a two night stay at Hotel Colombina and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Hotel is in an excellent location just two minutes walk from St Marks square and 10 minutes walk to Rialto. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our room, we stayed in room 400 which is lovely and has it's own balcony over looking the roof tops, the bathroom is compact but has everything you need. The Hotel is immaculately clean and lovely and warm.

Breakfast was good, obviously of a continental style although they did have scrambled eggs and bacon.

We were also offered a free trip to Murano and a discounted Gondola ride, which the Hotel arranges for their guests.

I will definitely be returning to this hotel and can recommend to anyone visiting Venice.

My partner and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary.
This is an excellent hotel - REALLY close to Piazzo San Marco, beautiful rooms (we had a canal view) and, best of all, wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast room is lovely with a great continental breakfast (cooked options also available) and really good coffee, perfect for waking you up in the morning!
This is so central, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, so convenient for the centre of Venice and minutes from the waterbus & water taxi stops.
We look forward to coming back!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a canal view (a deluxe room) for great views. Very quiet hotel despite being so close to...

We have Just back from a wonderful 4 night stay at Hotel colombina ..what a lovely Hotel it is .easy to find .close to St Marks Sqaure and close to every other place tthat you would like to visit on your stay in venice ... Hotel room was lovely and clean (400)...Breakfast was well presented and there was an excellent choice, All the staff where great. As others have said we too was offered a free trip to murano and was picked up from the jetty outside the hotel and was told we would have to make our own way back by public transport (7 Euros) but it was a lovely trip on a fast boat.. Ok we was shown around A show room but it was fine ...Murano is a lovely place to walk around
All in all if i go back to Venice there is only one place i would stay and thats at the hotel colombia .

We spent 4 nights here in February. Staff are helpful, rooms comfortable and quiet and breakfast plentiful and tasty. We paid for a canal view room and found this worthwhile. Just one word of caution though. We accepted the boat trip offered free to Murano on our first morning before picking up our water boat tickets and had to pay 7 euros each to get back by public transport! Check it out before you go.

Room Tip: 4th floor canal view rooms are worth it!!
